Default B20b vs b18b1 block

Can someone explain what this hole is for? I was told the blocks were identical so I’m trying to figure out what to do about this.

That is the return port for an oil separator box. It can be plugged if you wish to use the B18B block like a B20B block.

To clarify a little further - the breather chamber is only on OBD1 ('94 - '95) B18B blocks. OBD2 engines have the breather chamber built into the valve cover and are the same as B20B/Z blocks (which only came along after OBD2).
