97 gsr main bearing colors
Rebuilding 97 gsr block. I cannot find a b series bearing color chart but see that k and b series mains are the same? To be assured my block/ crank codes are as follows
c4- brown
c3- green
a3- yellow
d3 brown
c3- green
This chart is for a k series engine and i know the lower is different from the top but please assure me this chart will work for a b series engine, i want to be sure this is correct before i order them i will also double check my codes.
I did have my block line bore checked, crank mic'd and micro polished. Everything is true and ready for assembly i just need to order my bearings

Located right above is a sticky with B series OEM bearing colors and thicknesses. Its not a chart, but it might help with what you're looking for.

Im after confirmation the chart above is also for B series engines, im sure it is but i just want to be absolutly positive, dont want to spend a couple hundred on bearings that are not right lol

That chart pictured above is NOT the same as the "B" series chart. In addition, "B" series and "K" series bearings are NOT interchangeable. You need to find the proper chart for your application.

Let me pose this question as it may just be the missing key...
Are all b-series bearings the same?
If they are, the 99-00 SI (CDM SiR) was the B16A2 motor if I recall and most of us have the 96-00 helms manual, which in turn has the bearing chart for the B16 motor.

Re: 97 gsr main bearing colors
The bearing charts are similar for all "B" series except the ITR (the crankshaft and rod markings are very different)... otherwise, the B16A2 chart would mirror that of the GSR engine.

So, since your crank journals have been polished, you can no longer assume that the original bearings are correct. The right thing to do would have been to mic the crank before and after polishing and to have recorded those measurements on your build sheet. Since you have the measurements for the crank as it sits, my suggestion is this:
1. Buy one rod bearing pair and one main bearing pair in Green thickness.
2. Install any ARP studs or rod bolts
3. Go through your rods, one at a time, and assemble with the bearing you bought (on the bench, not in the engine). Torque properly as you would if you were assembling... this means stretch the bolts if you are using that type of fastener!
4. Measure your rod bearing with a bore micrometer in 3 different angles (vertical, 120° from there, then another 120° from there) and record
5. Install your main caps, one at a time with the bearing, and perform the same process.
6. Based on these measurements, calculate your clearances and order the correct bearings.
7. After you get all of your bearings, go through this process again to make sure your numbers are correct.
8. Assemble your bottom end and measure clearances with Plastigage to confirm your work.
9. Sleep well knowing you did it right
That is the correct way to guarantee that you get the right sizes on the first try. It's a bit OCD, but building an engine should be

Re: 97 gsr main bearing colors
This is the chart i was looking for. Got this from a how to rebuild a gsr thread.
the machinist said micro polishing would not change the measurments of the crank. But i will have to get the numbers from him as well since i have not decided what rods i am going with and want to stay as oem as possible bearing wise.

Re: 97 gsr main bearing colors
It shouldn't change them, and if it did I would call it a damaged crank... but it's better to know than to assume.
Also, since I mentioned ARP fasteners, if you used them were the rods resized?

Re: 97 gsr main bearing colors
Ok good! And no the rods have not been touched, only the crank micd/ polished and the block line bore checked, cyl bore checked and honed everything came out straight and in good order
