You are entitled to think drifting is gay. I only like drifting cause its fun - I dont give a **** if anyone's watching or not - I just do it for the thrill of getting sideways. I do realize that its been turned into show and i could not care less about that - I dont watch other people do it - i dont care what their cars look like - i just do it cause its fun.

I dont care if you like it or not. I'm just telling you why I like it. I am 100% performance and 0% style. You should see my cars, they look like ****. I dont care, I just want them to handle good and be fast - drifting is just a fun way to mess around with your car. You said yourself it involves skill so since you are all about performance it should appeal to you. All the drift offs and crap are gay but the real concept of drifting is not to look cool and make a show(at least for me) - its just to have fun with your car in a different way.

I could give a **** less what you think of it- as I'm sure many others would say. To each his own...I like seeing cars drift around a corner in a very controlled fashion. I can watch road racing on TV all ******* day, but when do I actually get to see cars drifting?

In your first post, you simply made a blanket statement. Calling something gay, especially something many like, will get people on your ***. I don't care what you like and don't like, just seemed like an unneeded response.

So, you do your road racing with 200 hp Civics, Integras, and your 450 hp Camaro. I'll stick to watching more enertaining forms of driving. Have fun with yours, and I will do the same with mine.

just for the record i argue both points of views on a regular basis with people. sometimes i take the road racing side, sometimes the drifting side. i took drifting this time just cause drew is good at making people feel like idiots and i wanted to argue. i guess i just like to argue - even if i dont believe in what im saying (i do belive in this though, thats a general statement).

drifting is for fun but it has become show for those that cannot do it. like i said, i dont give a **** if anyone watches me or not, i do it cause its fun - just like you may drive spiritedly on a mountain road - it may not have any purpose but its fun for you - same with drifting.

You guys all need to chill. Like, seriously.

It's just two different hobbies, for two different purposes. I think both road racing and drifting are cool. So what if it's more difficult to road race than it is to drift? Does that mean it's cooler? Does a difficult competition equal a better one? I don't think so. I mean, if it was, why would be buy sports cars? I'm pretty sure it's harder to turn out fast lap times with a Geo Metro than with a tuned honda.

So, why do we tune cars then? Not because it makes racing more challenging - because it makes racing more FUN. It's fun to see better lap times. It's fun to drive a car that handles like you want it to. It's fun to get faster timeslips.

So, if it's fun for the drifters, and fun for the spectators, than who cares? Aren't they in it for the same reason you're in roadracing or any sort of autosport?

Oh, and just beacuse it's for show, and not for go, doesn't mean it's better. I don't think the WWF-wrestling analogy was a good one. Why? Because drifting isn't trying to "pretend" to be anything. Whereas the WWF tries to decieve viewers into thinking it's "real wrestling" and "real pain," drifters aren't trying to make you think that drifting is turning in the fastest lap times.

By saying that drifting is stupid because it's simply for show is ignorant. What about opera? What about freestyle biking? What about surfing? All these are more artistic and stylistic in nature. Do you tell the opera singers that they should be doing voice competitions instead? Do you tell freestyle bikers that they should trade their BMX's for road race bikes and race in the Tour de France? Do you tell surfers that what they do is gay, and they should try getting back to shore faster?

If not, then stop ripping on drifters. It's just a different game, that's all. Sure, if you don't like it, that's cool. You can say, "I don't like drifting." But saying it's gay is making an attack on people who like drifting. That's not cool.


BTW: there's nothing wrong with body kits. Yeah, I can't stand ugly body kits...but to generalize? That's not cool. Oh, and what does drifting have to do with body kits again?

I think drifting is gay because it is all for show and it sure as **** isn't the fastest way around a track.

Do I live in a safety bubble? Nope. I road race as does Apocalypse. No straight-line racing there. We drive on the same tracks as the drifterZ y0 but we go around them faster and with the goal of getting to the front and ahead of all the rest of the cars. There is no coordinated ballet. There is no pre-planned and practiced routines. There are no tiiiiiiite body kitZ. There are however rollcages, driver's suits and a whole assload of rules and licensing procedures we have to follow.

Drifting takes skill - no doubt. But it takes less skill to drive a car at 70-80% of its overall adhesion with the *** end hanging out than it does to keep a car on track when you are driving it at 100%.

Drifting is to motorsports and racing as the WWF is to real, competitive wrestling. I don't like to watch the WWF either.

You should do some research on the people you are crying about BEFORE you post.


It isn't drifting but at least it is faster and less safe with more than 4 cars on the track at once:

What the **** is wrong with drifting anyway? It a form of enertainment and skill, some people like it- some don't. That was the main point, until the bashing began...

Someone always has to voice their opinion- even when that opinion is completely pointless, uneducated, and unneccessary. Numerous posts in this thread have added absolutely nothing to the informative content which should be seen. I won't name names.

Anyway, if you don't like drifting, who the **** cares. Others do. Others also don't like circuit or road racing. Who the **** cares?

 

Evidently some of you whiners didn't notice the fact that the original poster complained that the thread had gotten 30 views and no replies. By his act of complaining IMO he opened the door wide for any sort of post.

Why should I stay quiet about the fact that I think drifting is dumb and I don't enjoy watching it or DOING IT? It isn't like I go out and post threads about how I think drifting is stupid. To say my opinion is uneducated is only uneducated on YOUR part chief. You know nothing about me or my history as a driver and competitor. You are in absolutely no position to tell me that my opinion about drifting is uneducated or unfounded.
