Default FWD Drifting

2004.1.7

Well, I've been working on my drifts recently in my EG Coupe. Left foot braking, heel-toeing, and the hand-brake are all what I've been using to trail-brake and downshift raising RPMs to slide.

Got to admit, Civics don't slide well at all. Even with the various suspension set-ups I've tried. Different tire pressures and different turns (90 Degrees, sweepers, and even hairpins). FWD is just plain TOUGH to get the *** out at times...

ANYWAYS, this post is to see if anyone else in the San Diego and Orange County areas is drifting their cars...their FWD cars. If anyone else is practicing, trying, or even given up on it, I'd like to hear some opinions on what you think of the attempts to "slide your ride" in a FWD.

Option!

You know, if you hit a turn fast enough in a FWD, your car will really drift! I dunno if you can control it though.

Hey you can still do donuts in a FWD car! Not as controlled as in a RWD but just Hit 35-40, pop it in neutral then quickly turn the wheel and pull e-brake! My friend managed to spin 5 times once in his SI. Its more funny than fun.

Word up... a "forced drift" or " E-brake induced drift" would be a little more PC.

throw some stiff rear springs and sway bar in the rear with soft springs and stivky rubber up front

throttle lift mid turn and you'll get the rear end out without braking

FF drifting is dope. Espeically in the snow.....doing controlled left right left's etc

off topic::: donuts in FF y get up to 35-40 turn hard and hit e-brake. Rev like ur gonna burn out turn to full lock and dump the clutch in reverse hold wheel at full lock. like petey cunningham did at road america in the sentra spec-v, and ppl will give that dazed look in awe, haha. done it and had fun in it

My way is more fun!!

Hey its fun counting how many times you can get it to spin while in netural. Feels like your car is gonna flip over, but I guess its not really donuts then

Yea I also heard making the rear stiff as hell while the front suspension much softer helps the back slide out a lot more.

Actually a lil off topic but I dunno if anyone else has done this. But anyone try hitting a turn at a good speed, with the rpms up high, hold down your clutch, turn the wheel over fast while the clutch held down, rev then dump clutch.=?
Isn't this a way of drifting, called like "power-on" or something, or does it only apply to RWD?
I tried it once around a right turn, my friends were in back of me and sad it looked HAAAAAAARDDDDDD as hell.

And does anyone else remember waaaaaay back that vid on clubsi? With the nice smooth cement road all wet and slippery and a dozen cars with the tray's you get at jack-in-the-box under their back tires? That looked fun

What has the world come to? We are discussing how to make a drift car with FF. I know it has happened before but it just doesnt seem right. FR is the way to go for drifting.
