Drifting...Trucks?
I was thinking about buying a 87-88 model toyota truck with the 22R engine and set it up for drifting, seeing how thats probably the cheapest way to go.. I mean I've never drift before and I'm sure I'll figure out a way to tear it up..

it wouldnt be terribly hard to do. you would need to go with a 4 link in the rear and some stiff *** springs but you could do it. the 90's s10's only weigh about 2000lbs so you wouldn't even need that much power. you can find an s10 for about $500 running and driving.

Put anything but a 22R/22RE in it, as much as people seem to say how tough they are, they aren't. we put 5 (count 'em) in my buddy's 4wd '90 in a 2 year period, he sold the truck to a friend who put 2 more in after that. They spin rod bearings, and the timing chain tends to stretch and the plastic guides break, then the chain runs on the front cover till it cuts through and dumps all of your coolant in the base. 3RZ-FEs are tough though, or if you want to go further back the old 20Rs are just about bullet proof.
i had a 4WD 86 with a 22RTE and built the block. ran 25psi on a t3/t04e hybrid and that truck would run. common swaps in that body style truck are the 5M-GE, 7M-GE (and GTE), 3RZ, i've seen lt1 swaps in more than a couple trucks. if you wanna grab something slightly newer, 89-94 that will fit a 2JZ-GE (or GTE). the 1JZ is a great motor, but not common.

Pretty sure I just crappd my pants. That would be an awesome drft motor. I guess u could always do an S10 with a a 350 smallblock and a 4 speed. THat would probably be pretty cheap.
I actually have a 88 silverado 1500 with a built LT1 swap, GM performance shocks and springs in the front (I'm literally 1.5 inches from the ground), heavy duty air bags in the rear, vett positive rear end, and drifting it is pretty easy. Once you get a feel for handling heavy cars and trucks, lighter cars are easy to handle, I have no pics up right now but ill post some up to see what you guys think.
I've been known to get down with my 2004 Ram CTD!
Really! I've got a 1989 K-1500 with a Vortec 454! I'm curious why you went with the LT1? You know what us GM guys say about Optispark, don't you? "Opti-Spark: 60% of the time it works every time!"

Damn, I almost forgot why I was replying!
I've seen a crew with three small sized 80s-early 90s trucks. The Toyota had a 1JZ swap, the Nissan had a RB-26 (although it could have been an RB-25) and the Mazda had a turbo 13b in it. They weren't the cleanest on the outside but I had to admit that everyone of them were badass!

Lol I just needed a lot more torque for the straight away and its more balanced on the front end and it allowed me to have space for the other goodies I'm gonna out in it. And it just made my engine bay look clean but mostly for the torque. Only bad thing is you cant even take it out in the rain to drive normally but its mostly a truck to mess around in, its fun
Theirs actually a Toyota pre runner here in town with 2jz single turbo swap and a Nissan hard body with an Sr. they're tuned out trucks. most ppl don't dig trucks but they're clean power houses

easy drift truck setup would be 73-75 CHEVY TRUCK shortbed 2wd (duh) you only need about 300 hp, run a low stalll converter and have 4.88 gears out back with a spool/ Close friend of mine had one, before drifting was drifting, that truck would do figure 8's around parked cars in front of in n out... he'd spin the motor to 8k and just hold it in second.... it was awesome!
