I have full respect for Keisuke Hatakeyama (I read this article as well) for competing with the big boys in their RWD cars. He is ridiculed by people who don't know squat about drifting. (not saying that I'm an expert, quite the contrary is true) I'm sure he'd kick *** in a RWD car too, but driving that EF makes him an icon just like Danica Patrick racing with an all-male roster in the Indy 500. I have respect for her too, she's probably a better driver than a lot of people on here.

As for the thread starter drifting his Civic, I'm not going to flame. Just keep that **** off the streets.

I remember my friend's and I would take my sister's civic, steal plastic trays from Burger King and try and "drift" the car with the trays on the back tires and the e-brake up. We were stupid for doing it but it was fun at the time...ahh the memories.

i remember during the winter time when my rx7 was in storage.... i was driving my 97 civic in the mall parking lot and it snowed... and it hasnt got plowed yet.. and it was about midnite... and i decided to just go play with my ebrake... and i discovered how to do Flat spins (awd doughnuts) and regular doughnuts (like my rx7 would do) ... well what i did was got it up to about 20mph .... turned it to get the under steer... and hit the ebrake and released it real quick... (transfer the weight) so the rear end would whip out... and i just hit the throttle and.... just like my rx7... just kept tapping the gas... and there i went... spun around 20 times... in a row... in a perfect circle... with out the ebrake up... lol and to do the flat spins i made a wider turn... and it became a wider circle... it was kinda neato... my friend was in the passenger seat.. and his head was so close to the window.... lol we were going in circles pretty damn fast... since the speedo did say 75mph..... id say we were going in circles at about 30mph or so... (i kid you not... ill have video clips next winter season)but then again we are talking about drifting here... and it is possible if u push the car to the limits.. i did it a couple 10 times... when i had stiff *** suspension on my civic... just hit the gas hard... turn real hard and let go of the gas real quick to transfer the weight of the car and mash the gas... and the rear end whipped out with out the ebrake... lol but then again i had some shitty kuhmo 711s that made it possible...

but i still do prefer drifting in an FC3S so i can get it up to 60mph and just whip around turns and leave a cloud of smoke... during the night hours of fun... LOL

LOL!! That reminds me of this past fall, I was with my girlfriend at Tim Hortons and we saw a 98 or 99 white cavalier Z24 doing the same thing! I said he was an idiot, but in my head I was thinking how fun that would be, but he's still an idiot. The parking lot of the plaza I was at was pretty big and he was doing it for about 45 seconds, when all of a sudden he lost it. He ended up sliding sideways over a curb (which had a metal railing,) broke a rim, and smashed down a good 3 foot drop at the storefront. The railing went through the store window and triggered the alarm, which brought the cops to the plaza in about 2 minutes.

Everyone ran over, made sure nobody was hurt and started laughing at him. For the record, I was one of the people pointing and laughing because I saw the whole thing. His insurance did not cover any of the damage to anything... so he got a $2500 property damage bill, a two year driver's license suspension, a broken *** Z24 and public humiliation. Oh yeah, good times.

Anyone know where I can read this article? I believe this issue is now off the shelves and it sounds like an interesting read regardless of the disagreement at hand.

lets just face it man. FF cars are more for grip drivng. unless your a pro or just got some GOD-LIKE skills. and yes I did try drifting my EG too. I've learn just as many people on this forum. but I didn't use the E-Break, Left foot breaking was a technic I used, in the end...I just left foot broke my car...DAMN IT! cost me a whole $900 to fix a bent suspension.

I drifted my EK once, without the E-brake. but id din't do it on purpose. I had been driving the canyons by my house and then went home for a little while. SO my tires went from real hot and sticky to real hard and cold. I was going over to mty friends house and I took a sharp turn on to a main street a little fast, a little faster than normal, and my back end kicked out unexpectadly. I rmemeber my friend saying that we was looking at the poeple in the opposite turning lane that were waiting to go and there mouths were all dropped (it was the midle of the day).
Luckily I corrected enough but not to much, and coming out of the turn the back end cought some grip again and we were on our way...

It must have something to do with this 32mm sway bar

why is this thread still open, the creator is an idiot for eve trying to post something up like this, yes drifting is possible in a FWD car but it is hella hard, and I am sure that this guy is a pretty shitty driver if he thinks that all you can do is upgrade your strutbar or air filter

Why does alot of people think that owning a RWD car mean it's a "DRIFT" car. Just because someone owns an ae86 or 240sx doesn't mean he can drift in that car. Real enthusiasts fix up those rwd cars then drift them.

FF drifting is for ricers and posers....mostly. Why dont you utilize your hondas good handling capabilities and power through turns. If you wanna know how to use a honda against drifters watch the best motoring togue battles. N/A FF ITRS, CTRs, and Ludes owning silvias on the togue.
