Will I pass tech or not?
I was told that I can't run the slicks i have mounted on the stock 13x5" steelies because I don't have the long wheel studs. Is this true? I plan on doing it when I go to the 22x8x13 MH's but with stock rims I never thought it would matter.
No that is not true, as long as the stud is protruding through the opening in the lug nut you will pass. Iam not sure but i know that there is acctually a measurement that the nhra mandates i just cant remember what the exact measurement is . You should have no problems passing though.
You do not have to run extended studs to run slicks, the only qualifier would be how much of the stud actually goes inside the lug nut, the rule book has the info, but I believe you have to be able to place an amount equal, or greater than the width of the bolt inside the lug nut. So 1/2" thick stud, your lug nut must be in contact with the stud for a minimum of 1/2". Or at least that's what I got out of it...just read the book for the exact specification, I just pulled this out of my head.

Thanks but I don't have the rule book and have to go to work so don't have time to download it. I think that I'll be fine since there stock rims and have passed tech at all the other events I've run, none have been NHRA and I heard there picky

FYI (NHRA RULE):
5:1 Tires
Tires will be visually checked for condition, pressure, etc. and must be considered free of defects by the technical inspector prior to any run. All street tires must have a minimum of 1/16-inch tread depth. Temporary spares, space-saver spares, farm implement, or trailer tires prohibited. Metal, screw-in valve stems mandatory in tubeless tires, front and rear, on cars running 11.99 or quicker.
5:2 Wheels
Hubcaps must be removed for inspectors, who will check for loose lugs, cracked wheels, worn or oversize lug holes, and condition of spindles, axle nuts, cotter pins, etc. Snap-on hubcaps are prohibited on any class car. Each car in competition must be equipped with automotive-type wheels with a minimum 12 inches of diameter unless class requirements stipulate otherwise. All wheel studs must project into the hex portion of the lug nut by a distance equal to one diameter of the stud. Maximum rim width on any car: 16 inches. No rearwheel discs or covers permitted in any category.

There my friends setup but I didn't have the money to buy the 22x8x13 for my rims so running his 22x9x13 on the stockers. He and I have made 30+ passes on them and never had a problem, 60ft.'s went from 2.1-2.2 street to 1.9's so they do work just look really funny. We actually saw a guy with 9.5's on the stockers at the last race we went to.
Thank you so much for putting that post up, from what I get out of it I should pass the stud part easy, I just don't know if there going to like the fact that I have wide slicks on stock rims.
-couldn't get rims and slicks in time!!

I agree and I'm trying to find some 8's as we speak because I know it's not the safeist thing in the world. The problem I have is me and my wife r having another baby and can't just fork out $500 dollars for rims right now. I'm tyring to find a place that will let me make payments.

The track was fairly nice, much better than the last CMI I attended ~2 months ago in Sacramento. I was there just as more of a test and tune to get the 2-step figured out regarding my launch point, and my reaction time. I had a total of 9 runs, BFG 205-50/15 drag radials the new ones, they're only partially worn down, and I was getting a 2.14-2.18 60ft time fairly consistently. I know that I can get better times with these tires, as I was still spinning the tires a little more that I would prefer...I've made some changes to the car, so I'll have a little more power, which means it's back to the drawing board on the launch rpm and tire psi, but at least I have an idea.
