Fun stuff. Thanks for posting this up. Many guys I talk to (generally when they don't want to put on a scattershield, lol) look at this as an urban myth, They just don't believe that it can happen. Proof is in the pudding here.
And yeah, I got no idea what his intentions were to finding wheelspin from a roll???? Trying to use the front brakes????
Anyway, got what he deserved, lol.

ive seen them as well but this is the first real look at a piston motor doing it that ive seen. if i posted a rotary, everyone would blame it on the motor, lol.
he was on the brakes to much on the initial launch & thats why the slipping happend.
this is what heat will do to a clutch it if builds to high. our flywheel as gotten cracks in it before from the tilton flow control valve so we stopped using it.
nothing against it but with our RWD bug it doesnt like the slip out the hole

i was JUST getting ready to type this before i saw your post. i dunno how many rotaries i've seen have this happen at some ungodly RPM...this and violent driveshaft failures- scary.

that bitch went kaboom
Dude tuning my car had that happen with an RB25 240. The pedals were bent and holes in the floor next to his feet.

high whp isn't the only reason for the need. I have a buddy with a pretty stock LS/V in a 95 coupe that exploded his clutch in Montgomery about mid-track. The clutch took out the trans case, back end of the block and the radiator. It could have just as easily gone the opposite direction and entered the cabin with him. for sure some scary stuff...
