"I ran a 18.9 with stock muffler, stock intake, spare tire, and a fat chick in shotgun with three spare tires around her waist."
or
"I ran a 16 flat with no rims no tires, just on brake rotors."

What are some good excuses you've heard???

 

What I do: "Man.. this track sucks! they can't prep the track well.. theres a huge dip at the end of the track and that damn wind.. jeez!"

16 flat on no rims or tires? Man, I thought I was slow because my muffler bearings were going out and my turn signal fluid was low. Next time I'll try running on my rotors. Sounds like a great idea!!!

 

i dont want to steal the post from ya but what i dont understand is y every mod on someones car is "top secret". **** if i waste someone and they ask what i have, i tell them. its no big secret. sounds to me like they r just a bunch of pussies.
o yeah, excuses r for the ppl that lose races, winners dont have excuses.

 

I like the "Man, it just lit up first, second, third and kept spinning into fourth" This is after they have run 15.7 @ 85 mph!!!! MPH dobs them in!!!! Hehehe

the ones i always here are:

Spun 1st through 2nd
Missed 3rd and 4th gear
bald tires
with a slippin clutch

but still managed to get a 16.5 @ 82 mph in a 4 door civic dx with a intake. (thinkin if they didn't have these problems they woulda hit 14's )

some of us have had our cars stolen in the past, me included. and are very cautious as to who we tell our mods to. it has nothing to do with being a *****. i'm sorry, but the thought of insurance paying me $3000 for my car, after spending $18k+, slightly scares me.

 

i guess thats what happens when u live in a big city/town/area. ur **** is goin to get jacked. go to a small town where hte lifestyle is a bit slower, no one messes with ur crap, its respect. big city ppl have NONE, pretty sad these days.

 

I live in chico (nor cal) and anyone smart here keeps their mouth shut about there cars here, in one month 80 hondas were stolen and stripped, the total population here is 100,000 people ,not that big at all, the bad thing about a smaller town is everyone knows where you live!

 

i know what ur saying but hell i got the fastest NA car within a 3 hr drive and i could care less if ppl know where i live cause once my **** gets stolen, id know who or where it is. its just not likely its goin to disappear anytime soon. plus a garage helps out.

 

i live in a pretty small town, but "the valley" is 20 minutes away, and Los Angeles is about 40 minutes away.

i have a garage too, but it just so happens the one night i leave it in the driveway, it's gone.
but since this is a small town, word got out... and now i know who stole it. but there's nothing i can do.

 

Same here, I live in a small town but stuff still gets stolen.I have a garage that my car is parked in so i don't have to worry about it at night. It's the other neighboring towns that worry me.

 

Don't we all make excuses. Especially at Palmdale.

 

I've heard "I run 13's on the track if I get traction and I'm in the 12's on the street". LOL

 

I don't tell people what I have lurking under my hood for many reasons:

1) I live in the jacker capital of the world (L.A. where they'll jack a Yugo if it had rims)
2) Keeping what you have a secret is just the mind-set that street racers here in the 818 have. It's part of the hustle. After everyone found out what my friend Jerry had under his hood, no one wanted to race him on the street.

Ill tell everyone what i have under the hood. I dont race on the street so its cool, i dont have to worry about it, and i also live in a little town thats full of rednecks lol.

My last 2 times were:
15.7 @ 90.3
15.88 @ 89.4

35mph headwind, i missed 4th, uh, spun through 5th, had 3 spares in the trunk and a couple bags of sand for winter traction, 6 gallons of elmers wood glue on the tires for traction and i ran with a vacuum in the tires (-20psi).

well, the headwind was true. hehehe

 

"But you have turbo..." bottle-fed 00 GT owner to a buddy of mine with a Si w/ turbo kit.

I run 16.0 @ 100.

 

Ricer: "Yo dude, you smote me so bad, you must have a DOHC swap"

I open hood, listen for the jaws hitting the pavement.

Ricer: "WTF, I got smote by a SOHC? Where is your turbo?"

Me: "Under the passenger seat."

Ricer: "Really?"

Man, it is so much fun anymore at the dragstrip focking with the ricers minds.

 

these are just my around town rims but wait till I race you with my 5lb 17" volk's on, then I'll smote your sol. I once heard this after I raced a jack *** in a eclipse, don't **** with my Sol mitsushitty's. or I like the whole Palmdale thing, even in mags I read, dispite high temps, high humidity, ect. I live in AZ and I hear these lame excuses. rule
