Default Where to get sleeves ?

Out in so cal, where can one send an engine to get re-sleeved? Do people usually purchase the sleeves (persay, golden eagle, darton, etc) and get the engine re-sleeved by that company, or just some machine shop? I'm out here in so-cal, i can go to importbuilders if i need to but I'm trying to do this in the most "cost effective" manner. Trying to get my b16 re-sleeved to a 1.8liter.
Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

We sell sleeves just by itslef to anyone inquiring... but honestly, I would recommend getting the complete sleeving service done at the same time rather than getting it done somewhere else.
We usually sell our sleeves retail around $265. but with the sleeving service at only $880 complete with bore hone and decked. its more cost effective that way. its best to get it all done at one place...

RS is actually pretty fast.. Turn around time is pretty good. It will depend on how busy they are such as beginning of the season when theres so many blocks over there. But its not like over 1 month like Ive heard with other companies (not pointing on GE ok Vince... I mean other companies other than GE)

Most of the time when people complain about GE ******* up their blocks its the installers fault not GE.

"oh no my installer would never mess up a block."

Darton, RS, GE, AEBS, Benton

all are good companies

agreed wait until RS sleeves 1000 blocks a year. more install problems will come about and RS will get blamed.then everyone can run to another new machine company.

My RS Block shud be finished soon...(It's prolly already finished).

I will definately let everyone know how it turns out.

BTW: Do they provide a build-sheet with all the specs (Deck height, bore, hone, etc...)??

GE sleeves do not tend to drop! So a couple mishap happens out of thousands and you assume it's going to happen to all the time?

Most of the time it's the builders fault, not GE.

RS sleeves alot more blocks than what you hear about. Just because GE is the favorite here on HT doesnt mean they are the best. I think all sleeves serve their purpose. I am also not saying that one sleeve is better than the other.

Its all about the bandwagon. First it was bensons, then GE, now RS, then Arturbo sleeves. See where Im going with this? Jump on before the wagon leaves you.

If you think our sleeves drop, then please by all means use someone else! We have the best sleeves and install process in the industry and we stand behind it 100% Turn around time is about 10 working days or so. We also offer an " Econo " sleeve that runs about $650 installed. This is a basic style sleeve ( Like RS ) and is good for up to about 20 - 30 PSI of boost. It is just like our sleeve, but without the top support. Our " Goldzilla " sleeve runs about $750 and is rated to over 60 psi. of boost!! The real deal, no BS sleeve. We also do full builds and offer Arias, Je Probe Endyn and Wiseco pistons. Crower, Eagle, Cunninham and custom aluminum rods as well as a few Titanium applications. We also offer Eagle, Crower and custom stroker cranks, custom long rod set-up's and deckplates!
Also, check out our new line of products ready for sale NOW!!!
We are also a Rev Hard Turbo Kit distributor now and can beat the pants off the prices you have seen before!!!!
Give us a call for all your needs!!! (909) 592 - 4311 sales@goldeneaglemfg.com

I personally have no experience with anyone but I plan on choosing to get a block sleeved in the future. All the companies out there want to be the best at what they do and make customers happy. No one is perfect and Im sure when business picks up at certain times, employees rush and to get services completed for customers on time..Im sure if there is ever a problem with something you recieved that they would probably take care of you..at least it should be all about customer satisfacton....just my 2 cents

I have used golden eagle, rs, and aebs and never had a problem with any of them. There are remote instances in any case, but they all do excellent work. Personally, we use aebs blocks in our race car.

We have always used GE sleevesover the years and not once have they ever failed us. Many thanks to Vince and Ted for everything they have done for us and this sport.

FYI:

RS Machine sleeving are broken down by 2 types.
MAGNUM Race blocks: open deck design
&
MAGNUM PRO race blocks: closed deck

Both are high quality race blocks and by no means are any “better” than each other.
Its just a matter of preference on what racers want to use. Open deck design have been proven 10 sec All Motor as well as 8/9 Sec forced induction.

As far as deciding on who to go to, to get your block done. Look to where the Pro racers turn to NOW and who has Current proven performance. Not performance claims that are outdated and are probably done one time and not backed up throughout the season.

darton only sells sleeves if you want them cal bensons thats where all rs workers came from and they install darton sleeves but i recomend golden eagle(909)592-4311 or bensons(714)241-1284 both really good shops.i deal with both of them so i get good prices.
