Re: When dreams become a reality build
Steve pretty much said it all. The car is goimg to be a different beast this year. But ya once it was in storage. I had a good exhaust leak on the manifold. The wastegate you could wiggle around and a coupler that i could pull off by hand. This year no more corners will be cut, as goes for the safety factor. Blowing a slick threw the traps on thw last pass was enough to scare me.
Glad to see this post coming back. Ill post pics as thia progress continues. I got a great crew and amazing tuner. Without a doubt going tens.
And whats wrong with this manifold??? Just cause its not a crazy high dollar one doesn't mean it wont get the job done. Its not how much you spend on the part. Its putting all the correct parts together.

ran an identical manifold on my last car for over 3 years with 0 problems. Its got a big beefy brace that supports the turbo and weight of the manifold. And its already been on the car for almost 2 years. But we'll be keeping an eye on it.

Re: When dreams become a reality build
what size slick are you going with?
im likely going to get a pair of 24.5x8.5x13 M&H'S
they are a bit cheaper that m/t but i hear they last longer.

Re: When dreams become a reality build
Just thought id throw an update in here on this build:
Got a new motor put together since the last one hashed together by a guy here in town. Bryan works 40+ hrs a weeks, just got married and bught a house, so its been a little slow going. But got a new bottom end with 9.5 to 1 slugs in it, got the T67 precision bb turbo on it and modded the manifold for T4 and the 44mm Vband WG. Managed to get a local shop shop to get him a 10.0 cage in it that turned out amazingly clean. Still gonna have full 3" exhaust and power steering. Intercooler is a nicer Treadstone than the ol egay cooler that was on it. Also went to 3" charge pipes. We also found out that who ever worked on the car last swapped out his EM1 harness for an auto sohc harness. So hes ordering a nice Rywire harness to get her finished up and get it back on the rollers. Im excited for this car. Ill see if i can get Bryan to throw up some pics.

Re: When dreams become a reality build
Thank you for the update steve, been busy lately and its been a slow process for me. I'm so looking forward to this up coming season, alot of things have changed in the car since my last updates. Thank you steve for helping me out on this build. Car will be a daily summer car that souls do easy 10's with some good seat time.
I know the valve cover is ugly but the black one is what i had for the catch can setup will be using a non shaved/cutted one. Lol
Let me know what you all think, pictures will be posted soon enjoy

Re: When dreams become a reality build
I was planning on sleeving it but just wasn't in the funds with everything going on. But I'm not to worried about it, with using s300 and Steve being a great tuner, and i baby the car when driving around town.

Re: When dreams become a reality build
I literally welded runners 1&2 like 4 times so far. And my wastegate flange broke off twice
U can have the best of the best parts. But that cheap turbo mani will end up failing when u need it most.!! ( after the track on the way home) ouch.!!! Haha
Custom turbo mani ftw. Hit up FCS Fab. They do awesome work with quality material

Re: When dreams become a reality build
Oh man that would make for an ugly trip home. Lol
Ill check em out but been running this manifold for 3+ years with the only welding done was changing it to t4. Other than that there is a brace going from the bottom of the turbo flange to the block.

Re: When dreams become a reality build
As bryan said, The manifold has been working awesome. I ran the exact same $150 SSAC manifold for nearly 3 years with 0 problems. As he said, i made a beefy brace that bolts to the block and comes up and supports the weight of the turbo and takes the load off the manifold. Granted, there prolly are better flowing manifolds and better built, and we have talked about a name brand ramhorn or top mount, but until this ones starts having issues, i think its gonna stay. And as for the block, like he said, getting married, buying a house picking up the other parts, its just not in his budget and not 100% required for only 500whp.
