wheel hop???????
i know this is a stupid ????? but what causes wheel hop. i was at the track and could not get the car off the line without wheel hopping the atleast to the 60 foot mark. on the 6 run of the day the tranny let go at the line. i have been racing for 2 years now and just had this motor rebuilt. any help would be great but if not thats cool, i am just wondering.
so there is no chance that the tranny could have been bad and caused it to hop which completely took out the trans.
my setup-
rebuilt sohc 1.6
stage 2 clutch
stock axles
tight front suspension
14 inch steelies with 50%tread
stk 5 speed trans

there is a slight possibility, but it is just assumed that the car is in running shape before you make the pass
wheel hop is what breaks stuff.....if you are ever unsure, run a high psi, then lower it until you stop spinning

OK, by the thread link none of those issues could cause it. tire pressures were chenged 5 times and no change in wheel hop, engine lag cannot be correct due to the motor only having 400 mile on it, cluth is brand new(stage 2 exedy), tires were ballanced before i went to track, front suspension is completly tight, and vehicle was aligned day before races. does anyone else have any ideas. somone help.

Tire shake/Wheel hop is usually caused by not being able to get the car to get up on the tire. Go out and runs the car with the tires at 25psi (I know that is real high but try it) tire hop breaks **** a lot of **** if it is real bad but also if the car bogges it also breaks ****. You do not want to dead hook you will break!

Hoe are your bushings in the front end of your car? Have you looked at a set of traction bars? http://www.full-race.com manufactures a great set of traction bars, that have eliminated wheel hop in my car.
