Default What am I doing wrong?

I have a 99' Honda Civic SI, not much done, intake, exhaust, aem pulleys, and I can't get the thing to run under a 15.9. I can run that almost consistantly. Is there something wrong with the car? I don't think there is anything wrong with me. But I thought this car should run faster than that stock...

Yeah, it was on my Dunlop SP9000's, which are good tires, I know drag slicks will be better, but I want to know what it runs on street tires. But from what I understood the car should be faster than that. I could have sworn that stock baseline 1/4 mile times were faster than that.

Nah man, that's the norm for 99-00 Si's (stock that is). You might go low 15's-high 14's w/ slicks. Search through the FI classifieds on here, I see some turbo kits for the 99-00' si's floating around.

I think slow shifts may be the culprit. My friend Chris (Chris99SI) went 15.40's @ 89mph with a weak clutch and nothing but an Ebay short ram intake. Not to mention the 60's were in the 2.3's range so it's not traction issues. What are you trapping? If you're in the low 90's (92-93mph), you should be hitting 15.0's with no problem and dipping in the high 14's with some practice. Good luck.

You are doing nothing wrong. You are learning your car. You if you dont already know are collecting great data to learn on how to make you car faster. Look at it this way you already know what car is doing. You have a starting point to make you car a fine tuned machine.

Not slow on the shift, I'm hitting all shifts, and hitting them quickly, I have a short shifter so they are usually pretty quick. Of course the times I miss a gear I run a 16.2 or so. But I wasn't worried about that time, because thats my mistake. I still have the stock clutch, and usually when I slip it I run that 15.9's. I don't think it's me still learning the car, I've had it since 99, since it was new. Just never took it to the dragstrip until recently. My 60' times are around 2.3 sometime worst is 2.4. I'm just thinking something may be wrong with the car, but I don't know.

Is your car lowered??? Lowering your car improperly can affect your contact patch and really hurt your ET!!

Nope car is stock height, on stock springs and struts. I do have a different sway bar, but nothing to lower the car at all.

I still need to know your trap speed. E.T. is more driver while trap speed is a good indication of hp. If your car isn't trapping over 90mph, something is wrong with the car.

I think my highest trap is 85, I'll find the timeslips to be sure, but I know not 90.

Very well said, When my car was NA it went 14.60's @ 90mph. (89' hatch B18b). The traction and driving skills produced the E.T. and the lack of HP was shown in the MPH. I am not sure about the SI trapping 90mph though. I have seen 87-88mph be more the norm for them.

I ran a few times at 75/80, and a few times at mason/dixon. Both seem to be producing the same times for me. I found the slips, fastest trap was 86.

Yeah I've never been there, I live in Frederick, and both 75/80 and mason/dixon are within 20-25 minutes for me. I had thought I would get different numbers from mason/dixon because people said 75/80 gives bad numbers. But even my buddy with an evo ran nearly the same times at mason/dixon as he does at 75/80. So I just don't know whats going on. I feel like something is wrong with the car, but I could be wrong.

Something isn't quite right with your car. 86mph is a bit on the slow side. My buddy's Ebayed intake Si went 89mph. Get the car analyzed.

Ok, I just went through my other set of timeslips from a few weeks back, and my fastest was 87.5, so thats a little better, but not 89 or 90's.

I've never trapped lower than 88mph. See if Capitol makes a difference.

At capitol i Ran a 15.1 at 94mph with a 2.3 60' on street tires. What do you guys think a 94mph trap is good for if i get some slicks and get the 60's down? Oh its a eg hatch with b18b motor and b16 tranny
