What is a 2 step? ( clarification )
I've recently have been getting more and more into cars, as I have gotten my temps. My brother has always been into Hondas, and being around them for so long, I became very interested in them as well. I've been looking around these forums reading, and reading for the day that I get my car, so I know if I have problems I'll know what to do.
I've been hearing a lot about a '2 step' on this forum, and tried to search on here but nothing came up. I googled it and came up with 'http://www.rev-lite.com/Flat.html'. It's helped me understand a little of the concept but I still don't completely understand it. Could someone please explain to me how a 2step works, and why people use them?
Thanks a bunch.

Here is a good definition for ya..
A two-step is an electrical ignition device that will "cut out" cylinders at random, after the engine rpm tries to exceed a certain point. This is basically a rev-limiter. The driver can set the low-side rpm of the two-step to be his launch rpm. With this, the driver can activate the two-step, and press the gas to the floor without over-revving the engine. You can recognize a two-step by the uneven Pop-Pop-Pop of the motor. Release the two-step, and the motor is unleashed, the throttle already wide open.

Dayum good answer for a chic. Most turbo guys use them to build boost on the line also.

isnt this the same thing as an MSD ignition box?
you can set TWO revlimiters on this..... most people set one at STOCK revlimit, and the other at their launch RPM, after your clutch is released, your revlimit goes back to stock.

We have been talking about this for a while all you had to do was search.

good thread, but it does not answer the original question of this thread. but you're right about the search option, doing one would had given him lots to choose!

Sorry. Quick and easy answers to your questions. A two step is basically a secondary RPM limit usually triggered by a switch of some sort. Mostly used in drag racing. This will help you stage the car more consistently at the line and also you can use this two step to also build boost off of the line.
