Vx wheels: cheap skinnies or dumb idea?
i got a pair of vx 13's i was thinkin the other day since they weigh next to nothin, and i have them already, if they could be used for cheap skinnies on the rear of my drag/street car. I know ive seen alot of skinnies are usually 15" but with low pro tire. . . i think the thinest/tallest 13 tire mass produced is the 175 70 13.
so how does say a VX wheel wit a 175 70 tire compare to a skinny using a 15 inch wheel and low pro tire? any feedback or advice is appreciated. thanks .
PS- will they clear GSR rear brakes? !? !? !

I am using a pair of HX wheels on the rear until I get the funds for pizza cutters and skinnies. It's better than my street wheels and tires-about 20 lbs. lighter

I run 155/80/13's on steelies, and 60 psi air pressure.
$25.99 each at local store, mounted and balanced.
side note: I've been running them everyday for 5 months, too broke to get new 15" rubber. I've learn ALOT about car control. I run 42 psi front/40 psi rear on the street.
Just another one of my many "little tricks" that I've used to make my puny SOHC so fast for so little.

I once drove 100 miles with the 155/80/13's on the rear of my integra. Cruising at about 80mph with those was not fun. Just going over the little reflectors on the road at over 80mphs, my car would begin to loose control..
For Drag racing they are fine..

if you do use them, make sure that the car sits higher on the back than the front of the car. it helps if you have coilovers, so that you can raise the rear! with the stock vx tires, the wheel/tire combo weights in at 22LBS. to compare that, a single falken azenis tire(no rim) 205/50/15 weights in at 24LBS

i shipped two azenis on thursday, and they weight in at 24LBS each! i weighted the vx with stock tires, and it was 22LBS. vx will not fit gsr brakes, on the other hand the hx will fit the gsr front brakes with a slight massaging of the brake calipers. the hx, should fit the rear brakes on a gsr without any problems!

People been doing this for a couple of years now. 15's in the front and skinny 13's on rear is feels pretty scarry on the streets and freeways. Especially on the rain groved freeways.

Thats what I use on the rear at the track.
