I've heard horror stories about trailer thieves taking or breaking in trailers during a race weekend. What should be done to help prevent or avoid this. I've been paranoid lately and just wanted to take any extra precautions. Any advice on how to secure your trailer better would be greatly appriciated.
there are ball locks made from solid billet steel and cannot be taken off unless you have a key, there pretty pricy though i think it was around 150.00 those seem to work really well.
A dog and a gun?
but seriously, besides locking it up at nite there really isn't anything you can do. If their determined enough they'll get in, it sucks but its racing

here are the locks I used on my enclosed trailer, never had a problem. Course my trailer was a gooseneck so not just any thief could drive off with it.

It happened around here with some trucks. People were stealing a ton of diesels, and somebody had a GPS thing and tracked it down to a chop shop in the boonies with about 20 other 1-ton trucks in it getting hacked apart

This is a pretty serious issue and people need to also worry about their trucks, a few months back Hal Brown had his entire World-Challenge operation stolen from a hotel. The thieves stole the enitre rig including truck and trailer two world-challenge srt4's, all their spares and tools, pretty much wiped out the guys entire operation over night.

friend of mine had his ultralight(aircraft) trailer , just like what we haul cars in, stolen on way to florida a few years ago , had his number on side of trailer{ with his ad) , thieves called him next day and said, i guess what you have in here in worth alot , 5k and you can have it back , he was lucky, had lo-jack , and got his stuff back , undamaged!

leave your truck hooked to it and have a friend drive with you. thats what i did at MIR, and at atco, i had friends staying overnight at the track and they babysat my stuff. he hee.
if not that, this is my backup plan with a padlock too. if the pad lock is cut, you still have to hammer the lock past the lip on the tongue.
