I've looked through the rulebook, and I'm still not 100% on what I need.
I'm about to hit 11's, and I'm scrambling to get everything I need to be able to not get kicked out fof the track when I do!
1) M2000 helmet
2) 6-point roll-bar, with badding anywhere the drivers helmet can touch
3) SFI 16.1 restraint system (If I show up to the IDRC event with a stock seatbelt, will I not pass tech? Is this something they pay close attention to?)
4) 3.2a/1 SFI jacket (how can I determine if a jacket meets these requirements?)
5) ???

Has anyone teched with stock seats?
Also, do I need extended wheel studs for the fronts or all 4? I've got ARP's in the mail for the fronts; did I need all 4?

Also, I'm about to get my slicks mounted on my bogarts.... can I just go to discount tire and tell them that I want "all metal valve stems" so I can pass?

Do you think I could get by with jsut telling them I'm runniing 12's and that I got the cage in case I hit an 11 on accident? And then, when I hit an 11 they won't complain? I'm hoping so, because this will the the last race for me of the season, and I just want ot make it through the whole thing. I dropped the $$$ for bogarts and slicks, and I want to use them for more than 1 pass this year

Uhh, bump for that. I've never heard of that rule.

i think you only need a 4 point roll cage for 11's when we went to CMI my friend only had a 4 point chrom-oly bolt in roll cage, and they let him race, and he was hitting 11.8's all day. but other people have told me you need a 5 point i really don't know the real truth, but i would assume 4 point, cause why else wuld they make one if its not good for anything

WTF....I am in trouble. Is this really in the rules?

every track has different rules. most nhra tracks require a 5 point bar for 11.99 and quicker. but there are alot of tracks that dont require the 5 point till you hit 11.49.
the non adjustable seat deal i really dont know where that came from. the only real rule ive heard of about seats is it either needs to rest against the mid bar in the main hoop or if you sit closer to the wheel it needs to have a brace from the mid bar to the back of the seat.
you can normally get around the extended lug deal by teching in with street tires on the car, but i recomend getting the proper safety stuff.

why not? have you ever been close to a car thats let a flywheel go and shot everything everywhere? its just another safety issue thats going to start becoming more enforced at sanctioned events. most of the clutch manufactors have gotten or are in the process of getting them certified. cause if it becomes a requirement and your clutches arent certified your going to lose business.

how exactly are they going to inspect the clutch and flywheel for sfi spec??? and thats the reason that the scatter shields are recomended for...

again have you ever been around a car thats let one go?
whats the only place on scatter shields that dont cover the trans? the only part that faces the driver. and ive seen flywheels actually ricoshea (sp?) off scatter shields and go flying every which way. and ispecting it will be easy. just pull off the starter and look inside.

a friend of mine had his flywheel explode in his galant vr4 so i kind of know what its like... but still they put the sfi spec sticker on flywheels right next to the center by the flywheel to crank bolts so that could not be checked by just pulling hte starter.... one thing i always wondered about is the piece that goes on the bottom engine side of the tranny (part #1) if it is a required piece in order to run or can i run without one

i personally dont use it cause its just a pain to take off when your in a hurry and my car dosnt see enough road time to worry about debris getting in there.

1) All metal valve stems... can anyone confirm this? Is this something you can get at, say, your average tire shop?
2) Can anyone confirm.deny the non-adjustable seat question? Can I pass tech with stock seats?

Yes, you need metal Valve Stems. And also, I know guys running 10.20's with stock seats so they might not give a ****, but all different techs and tracks have different rules. Go to your local track and double check.

Bummer
Can I get all-metal valve stems at discount tire or something like that, or do I have to order them somewhere? Are these just on the slicks (drive wheels), or all 4?
What about extended wheel studs... do I ned them for all 4 wheels, or just the front 2?
