staight axle
i want to put a straight axle in the rear of my 91 crx si drag car, i have found a few for sale from chassis companys but they are like 2000$. I have also thought about building one but i dont really know how to go about it. So if any one has a diagram of one or info on how to build one i would appericate it.
Rear suspensions/ straight axles are usually something you don't want to try and build yourself, especially if you have to ask for a blueprint or even something as simple as a picture.
Safety being the huge concern.

exactly, alot of stress is applied to the rear during a hard launch, and if improperly doen could lead to a run being made on a broken rearend, possibly causing a crash
Tag for later. I have an interest in this as well.
Ken's says about an 80# savings in weight. May or may not be worth it.
My thinking is that 80# off a 1700# (160hp) car is like adding 8hp. What's 8hp worth to you?
Personally, I'm for it.

the only problem i have with kens is the whole trailing arm, upper and lower control arms combined do not weigh 80lbs. so they are including the stock *** wheels and tires. even then that might be pushing it IMO.
i think when i talked to danny the other day he said it was worth more like 40lbs. he uses the lightest stuff possible.

I suppose that depends on what 40-80#'s is worth to you.
I'd like to know how many fewer parts are involved, total. Any time you can lower parts count on a race car, there is less to go wrong. Although how much can really got to crap out back?

You welding these in a jig of some kind? Just didn't see anything on the welding table. Are those waterjet cut parts something you are doing for the calipers, or is that something that can be scrounged up?
