Something is wrong in HotRod class...

You spoke many truths in your post. Though it doenst bother me that a few sport compact domestics with millions of corporate dollars shoved up there @ss are managing to be faster in hot rod and pro fwd. I will never compete in those classes. In street classes, street races, and local tracks where the vast majority of us that post on this website race, imports are still dominating the scene. I have never been beat by a domestic sport compact at the local race track and I consider my car to be a very moderately upgraded Honda. I give SRT-4's respect for being quick from the factory but they are nothing a stock block turbo b-series cant handle. So if cubic dollars dominate the top .01% of race cars out there, so be it. We all know who dominates the streets.

ive always had respect for fast cars !!!
but people that cry about the rules not being fair , should just bow out and leave the sport , be it in nascar , nhra , ihra , any dirt track , scca , imsa , well you get the idea !!!!!!!
not 1 car is created equal , be it my cavalier , your honda , toyota , bmw
i can see basic rules being common , but to make weight differences is stupid , all cars should weigh the same , be limitied to the same motor size , turbo size , tb size , slick size
all cars take lots of R@D work , not matter if its a 2jz , rb26dett , eco tec , b16/18
all chassis need to be tuned
its a never ending process
i know my cav will out run alot of cars out there , and i know there is alot better cars domestic and import that are faster , at the track win or loose i have a great time
and here in phoenix most of the neon , and honda guys for the most part are there to have fun and respect any car that is fast , no matter what is !!!
and most are glad to be at track racing , and they have a great respect for the rest of us that track race
and a friend of mine has a sun fire that has ran in the 13.0's and gives lots of the SRT guys a run for their money at the track , and his car is all motor , the neon guys that were their gave him lots of respect
even though his car has alot of weight taken out of it
well either way level playing fields need to a constant level , weight bias is for wimps !!
none of the other pro classes have them set up like that

Your right thats exactly it.If its not fun anymore why bother.
I ran the Red 03 Sunfire in Sprt FWD at Etown last Oct.I qualified #8,had probally the heaviest car in the class(2886 with me in it),Didnt have a chance in hell of winning but I had a freakin blast.I had numerous people come up and ask if we where factory backed.Nice way to greet a different car to add some flavor. Why would people even ask that?Hell if I know.We also had our shop car the 98 Eclipse there but it ran into some clutch problems and didnt qualify. It weighs 2800 lbs with driver. It has gone a best of 10.87@137.Submitted the times to fastestfwdstreet cars page and it never got posted.Oh well.
We debuted our Cav Hot Rod/Pro 4cyl car at SEMA.One of the frequent questions asked was are you factory backed.Um no,we are a privateer team looking to win races and have fun. While the cav is still under construction Ill still race wheather it is my car in the NDRA Street tire class or in Turbo 4 in the Eclipse,I dont care which cause im happy racing, winning or losing.Id be happy if i was bracket racing a rental. Why cause I love to race.
Hot Rod yeah its getting silly, but there is always someone faster.Ive known Darrel,Mike and Scott for a number of years now. They work their butts off getting that stuff ready.Hard to believe Scott is still running the same car as when I met him back in 99 when it was running 14's.I have much respect for them.Joe Demeree I also have alot of respect for.You could not know a nicer group of people thatn him and his family. And he works his butt off on that car.I have to say NHRA's car counts are way down.Maybe they will be different at E town.
I feel NHRA or NDRA need to make a heads up Index class, say 12.90,11.90 or whatever.Something for the little guys that love to race but dont have the budget to run 9's in a street car or 8's in a pro car.

if you dont like then get out !!!!!!!!!! or get better !!!!!!!!
get better is what we did !!!!!!!!
its not the domestic markets fault honda or toyota wont back you guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
drag racing has always been run what ya brung !!!!!!!!!
some one set rules , and all the teams go buy that
both of GM cars use 2.0 motors
to change the rules to 1 make of car or the other is wrong , look at NASCAR they are the biggest at this and now its hard to tel 1 car from the other , if they dont have paint on them
and im a big NASCAR freak !! but nascar has F'd it all up
so you import freaks quit your rice crying !!!!!!!!!and get your a$$es out there and do something about it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and there is a reason our cavaliers and sunfires out run alot of the imports at the track , and nissan was 1 of the first import to do teh domestic thing , and build a motor that makes TQ , cause thats what moves the car down the road !!!!!!!!!!!!!

are you from the GM team? Those are strong words you have there. I wonder how professional your team is if you come in here calling people crybabies and such acts? If not, then disregard this post. NO disrespect as I'm not the one crying, but if you are from the GM team, this does thread does not show professionalism

You can tell he's not on the team, they are all intelligent guys who really follow all the classes and have respect for everyone they race with. I think a person from the GM camp would not keep saying Toyota in regards to the Hot Rod class since there is not one running in it.
Money means alot to this and all the classes but I don't think it's the end if you don't have it. Gary as an example has a little money but we know it's nothing compared to what Marty's team is blessed with, does he cry he can't compete with there money--NO!
Instead of using his mouth to whine he uses his brain to think and surrounds himself with the right people to make it happen. He tests the crap out that car-
last summer I remember him being at either track(Atco, E-town) almost everyday they were open if he wasn't at a national event. He got were he is because he and his team worked at it, money can't buy you that. He also has one of the most extraordinary tuners on this planet to tune his car, Job Spetter, which is an example of the team using great resources that are available to them.
I think if you took all the people on the GM team took 3/4 of the money away
they would be doing the same thing because that's what they strive for.
Energy has it's own will.
Living in America in saddens me to see so much bashing of the GM team. That's an American manufacture putting alot of money in our sport, which has helped it grow-alot. I would love to see the Cavalier take off and be a tuner car like the Honda has been for so long. The engine that is in the street Cav's are the same block and head that Marty and Nelson uses just buy a rotating assembly and port the head put a big turbo on it and go racing!
The muscle car wars of the 60's have been born again, only this time there competition is from oversees as well as from America. As an American I would like to see us win this war, as a car guy I love them all. The Hot Rod class in my opinion is where we can all see in a national setting what is what, it is at the extreme of what we would see on the street. America finally has a winner.

i own GM cars and truck , i personally now the guys that ran GM's drag team the last 2 years
this is my feeling on a forms of racing , just like the nascar race today , if i would been there ida been tossing cans at nascar for a F'd up ending of a race
to me all cars need to have all the same rules , each car needs to bedifferent (unlike nascar) , its a plain and simple thing
for some one to cry about the weight class or power from another car , is just stupid !!!!!!!!
each team has(money permited) the same axcess to all the same technoligy and parts
why cry when someone is faster than you ?????
that like a guy the owns a mustang crying he got beat by a viper !!
