Default Sohc for strip

Ive been thinking of building up a street car for a while to hit the drag strips. Last week i got a 88 STD hatch and am ready to get my project on the road. Anyone running Sohcs (besides Bisi) who would like to shed some light on the subject. I am most likely gonna go all motor high compression with an overbore. Let me know your opinions...

TIA

we do all motor SOHC's all the time. there are so many things you can do with the d15/d16 motor. We are still running a d16a6 in one of our street cars... goal is low 12's daily. we know it can do high 12's already but doing a few more things to get it down to the low 12's

Thanx for the info man. What kinda set up would it take on a sohc to do that all motor. Im sure it wont go that on a stock bore size. I was thinking bout resleeving mine no matter if i was gonna to all motor or turbo. Figured it would be good for the long run and will let me take the bore up to a larger size than the stock sleeves could.

Anyone else with good info?

i run sohc turbo, stock internals... i love it, they stay together if you know what you are doing and they can last a while on stock inernals (boosted). i blew mine up going over 20psi but im putting another stock internal together with some little changes and going for mid 11's who knows maybe low 11's... i should spend money on a lsd as well but so far the good ol stock open diff has done me well.

Yea i saw the threads. Big on that dude that was some good **** to see. I would like a car to break off some low 12sec passes. I dont mind building internally but i have seen people using tunning to go around that. No way will it hold anything over 14psi daily but track conditions and some propane and you are good to go!

i always ran approx 14 psi then i went ot 16psi and hit 11's. so i will prob keep it around that range, the car lasted over 2months of just drag racing and a little street driving..

Yea i will be using this car as a street car. Also will have 550s in as well. Turbo is a forced performance big28 (t3 compressor wheel) with internal gate.
