Slick sizing question...
Alright, I have a question for all of you fast Honda doods... Hopefully I can get the insight of some more people since I basically already have a general idea of what would work well..
So... I'm in the market for a set of slicks, and Im kinda undecided on what will work better for my current setup... The car is currently on stock suspension (with the exception of coilovers in the front to accomodate the tires, although this will be changing very soon). Car has a wheelbase of 103 inches. And it makes around 430-450whp, and about 400 torque... Through first and second gear however, the car only uses about 350whp, and 320-330 torque... Transmission is a GSR transmission, with LS final, and Im only revving her to about 8k rpm... I personally think the M&H 25x8.7/13 mounted on some 13x8" wheels would hook well, and give a little more gearing advantage given the powerband I have to work with, but then again, I think a 24.5x9.5/13 would hook just as well, and maybe offer a bit more acceleration down low... Im pretty much set on the 25x8.7s, But I would like the input of some others, just to be sure the tires are properly matched to the application...
Maybe John@M&H could even offer his professional insight
Any and all insight would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Chris

Here is Tranny calculator you can use with MPH and tire diameter adjustment http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/gears/. I would probably use the smallest slick diameter you could and still remain in 4th gear. Although it seems the turbo guys go with bigger (diameter) slicks because of traction.

You want to go w/ the smallest you can go and finish near redline in 4th gear. If you are having traction problems still, then keep the same diameter, and increase width if possible, otherwise you have to go with a taller diameter.

Hi Chris: Here is what you need.
350-450 whp w/GSR-Tranny = M&H 8.5/24.5-13

Thanks a lot for your input... I will be looking to get a set soon...
Also, is it neccesary to balance the tires, even if they are going to be run at very low pressures??

Yes always balance, it's a must.
