well for ppl like me, i already have a cf hatch just cuz i like the way it looks and is my street car/daily driver, and if i raced i would be in sportfwd, i dont see what the big deal is...how is a cf/fg trunk allowed and not a hatch?</TD></TR></TABLE>
same here
I guess i will just bring my stock hatch on the trailor and replace it at the track if i have to

ahha, holy ****, i did the same thing, got rear ended, fixing the dents/dings, prep and paint woulda killed me, so it was cheaper to get a cf hatch

is it? i havent taken off the hatch yet...yea it was cheaper for me to get the c.f. fenders hood, duckbill, lip, and hatch...only a small part of the car has to be painted

yea, cuz u gonna pull out the harness and release cable, then unbolt all the latches....its not hard...just tedious
if u had a spare everything, and not hook up the hatch relase cable, then put a connector between the car harness and hatch harness it would be a relatively easy swap....but still, thats another 20mins or so, when you have other things to do...like put on slicks etc etc

My sources tell me........
A deck lid and trunk lid, or a hatch, are the same thing. The problem with the CF hatch is, as someone already said, the glass. In SFWD you have to retain the OEM glass. NHRA tech will not pass you through tech that way, from a safety standpoint. The glass probably weighs more than the hatch, I don't know how you would safely keep it in there.
So the hatch itself is ok by the "letter" of the rule, but because of the OEM glass issue, it would not be allowed. You might be able to modify the hatch to hold the glass, but by then it would likely weigh more than the stock piece you took out.

the glass does not bolt onto the hatch itself it justlatches closed
it bolts to 2 hinges that are just below the roof

So I win?
In fairness to the EG ppl tho my previous comments were based on the fact that I drive an EK (I forgot about the EG).
Noway in hell the EK hatch would be legal...I see your point on the EG split hatch tho...
