SFWD TECH QUESTION
I beleve to run in NHRA, the hatch can not be C/F. I dont noe about the fenders.. My guess would be that its ok, since i seen some cars running fiberglass fenders..

I was told by NHRA tech that the trunk lid / hatch have to be factory.. That dont mean NDRA or IDRC is the same way..
as for fenders, like i said above, i dont noe if its ok.. best bet is contact NHRA or what ever series you plan on running and ask them...

I think the problem with a FG/CF hatch lid is that you need to run lexan for the rear window (Lexan is prohibited, right?) I wouldn't think running straight OEM glass on a FG/CF hatch is safe? How would it be secured?
But FG/CF TRUNK lids are fine, as long as they are latched securely like a hood. It's just the HATCH that poses a problem. Correct me if I'm wrong.

it is bolted on the roof with a hinge
is there a weight penalty?

The hatch is hinged, but what about the GLASS? You're not thinking about using the OEM glass lining to hold it in place, do you? I don't think it'll be able to support the weight of the glass, unlike aluminum/steel should.
And no, heh heh There shouldn't be a "weight penalty" for trying to shed some weight. LOL! Only power adders/aftermarket transmission incur a weight penalty. As long as you make minimum weight, you'll be fine.

I don't think there is such a thing as a penalty for weight,if anything you wouldn't be aloud to run.Like Ron said i think a trunk lid and deck lid are the same so i think it would pass

A lightweight lid ok, a hatch they will bump u in to hot rod. good luck SFWD only has only one weight adding rule and thats for 2 power adders. trust me saving that extra 10 lbs in your HATCH wont be needed so why bother?</TD></TR></TABLE>
well for ppl like me, i already have a cf hatch just cuz i like the way it looks and is my street car/daily driver, and if i raced i would be in sportfwd, i dont see what the big deal is...how is a cf/fg trunk allowed and not a hatch?

hey how about not worrying about it and using the stock parts... only saving a few lbs. Drop the $ into the motor instead of carbon panels so u can keep up with me
