The Short Version -
If you go up to the Jimenez Cobalt thread there's a picture of his car in there.
Jimenez to Chevy
Durst (now married) to Scion and Sport FWD
Tyler Hara to Scion and Sport FWD
That's what has gone down so far. I know the NOPI Championship hand out was yesterday so Im not sure if anybody has talked to any of the people that were there about 2006 yet.
But basically that's it in a nut shell.

I'll drive anything with gas in the tank, but the civic will be ready to run next year regardless. I saw a new SFWD Cobalt from Hartford Enterprises (Matt Hartford) at SEMA as well. Female driver. Are there any guys running Phase 5 Cobalts next year? That ESX SRWD car should dominiate next year. The driver's pretty cute too.

Why freak out now? Season still hasnt even started. Anything could happen. Plus dont you want to see something from the Honda camp take down a Chevy? There are plenty of Honda front runners in the SFWD/Turbo 4 class. It will take some time to get the Cobalts dialed in.
Only thing I see a problem is that they shouldnt be able to run the Hydramatic tranny.

Cobalts....
Everything lately has been GM this GM that, If you want to build a Cobalt build it if you want build a Honda build it! build whatever you want.
You can have best products and the best car if you can't drive worth a **** you'll be in the same place.
Seat Time is the only intangeable aspect you can't sell in a proposal!

I heard that Joe. From what I understand Ballard will have a shot at another GM car (Cobalt).

not necessarily a bad thing - maybe we will all get a bit more recognition for the blood, sweat and tears we put into our cars and making it to the events...we all know and i guarantee a lot of others recognize the level of competition amongst the NHRA SFWD and NDRA T4 class that are not directly involved in the class
...not to mention if the status is brought up, ideally not officially to a "pro" class because i don't think that is the right move for either racing series then sponsorship help would potentially be a bit easier to attain...

Re: SEMA NEWS 2005????? (ihaterice)
hmm......i think its a hit or miss........going to go 1 way or another...really good for everything/everybody.....or make people give up all together.
i always looked as the sportsman class's as like an introductory level to the pro class's........hell turbo4 is already like "semi-pro" haha. i dont know..i guess if the street tire class gets popular it could be good. but for anybody like myself who has paid for each and every single part for the car out of pocket, every hotel room, every toll, all the gas, etc..... it gets tuff knowing your going to run against a nearly endless budget.....but at the same time.......i guess running for 1 season i havnt really earned all of the help that some of the other people who are getting taken care of so well have. if nothing else this year i proved i can make a bunch of junk *** parts work together, and im willing to put in the hard work and dedication...now i just need to find some good parts and/or some money and hopefully i can come out strong next year too. next seasons like 6 months away and im already stressing over it. this ***** too addicting!

Re: SEMA NEWS 2005????? (Turbo-charged)
I think another great class would be AFWD (affordable front wheel drive)
You would be limited to a SOHC vtec motor and a 60 trim T3. Impose a weight limit and a slick size limit, and you have yourself an 82 car field. lol
