Question for People Using Phantom Grip...
I've been using my PG for about 350 driving(break in miles for motor)miles in my GSR tranny. Its the 901-xtreme model. I finally got to take my car to the track the other night to test out the new motor set up as well as the PG. I was impressed w/my times but thats not important. The PG sucked. It was like i still had a stock diff. I ran 4 times and everytime i did my burn out in the water box only the passenger side wheel would spin until i started pulluing out of the water. What the hell? This thing sucks. For all those who use the PG did yours start working like its supposed to the first couple of times that u gave it hell or did it take a while? Anyway i've got my tranny tore apart right now about to pull the PG out sell it and weld my diff.
Please no smart-*** comments(get a quaiffe, obx, type r, etc....)

are you easinginto the burnout or popping the clutch? its been my experwience that you need to drop the clutch to get both spinning. I run 24.5"slicks and have no problems spinning both. you sure your springs are stiff enough??? did you modify your side gears before installing it or did youy just slap it in there like evryone else and then wonder why it doesnt work right.
I've always popped the clutch to start my burn outs and are u referring to grinding down the spider gears. because yes we had to grind the outside of the spider gears flat to get the PG to fit inside the diff. If thats not what u r talking about then what do u mean by modifying the side gears. Which PG do u use, the gold or the xtreme?
mine did the same thing, unless you pop the clutch it will still do the one wheel peel,if it does that just rock the steering wheel a bit and it will grab, but you are right the thing is kinda junky.becareful welding that thing up i have heard horror stories about it sending people into the wall outta the whole.
I tried everything the other night including turning the wheel back and forth. I'm gonna go w/ the welded diff for right now until save enuff $$ for a real LSD.....
PHANTOM GRIP SUCK or at least the one i got.......

I ran into the same problem last weekend in Rockingham. Every time I did my burnout, only the passengerside would spin. Worse, with all the torque going to one side, the wheel was shakeing like a bitch (some of you probably saw my bumper fly off). I could only pull 1.8 60's, and then had trouble getting the car into 2nd. I put a Quaife in this week, so we will see what happens in Tennessee!

no, you got it. I run a unit made by azracemachine.com basically the same deal as the PG. its a cheap alternative, but i agree that id also like to run a spool or weld the spiders.
