Maybe in 10.5 index, but not in SFWD or true street.

The stock pump on the side of your block creates a small amount of drag on the engine. Going with the electric obviously eliminates that drag. All of the T/S, SFWD guys do it without the use of these pumps, It's kinda like beign able to run a great 60' without wheelie bars. If it can be done without that extra step and still go fast then go for it.

i think listing what sanctioning body you wish to run would help answer this question because you just got 2 differant answers from 2 differant parts of the country

10.50 index is definitely ok...and I just looked at rules for 2011 on MIRs and street fighter and true street didn't say anything about electric water pumps being illegal...unless I skimmed too quickly and missed

we've used them in sfwd cars with no issues in tech. it seems to be a grey area, but we are running them again this year on all of the cars.

they are fine. taking a water pump off will not give you any true gain worthwhile in a turbo car Doesnt matter. It helps keep the engine cooler than a stock pump could ever do. I could care less what rules say, Ill run it to save my motor.
