Default question about engine cathpan?

i am ready to fab my engine catchpan and saw that their is exactly three inches from the most bottom of my downpipe to the ground on slicks with 8psi. now if i add a 1 inch pan that will give me less than two inches of clearance? does anyone else have this problem?

i was thinking of welding a pan to the bottom of my downpipe so that i could get more clearance? or utilize two pieces design, but then the area of the downpipe will have no device under it, is that o.k.????? (two pans on either sides?

hopefully i will be ready for vegas, uh oh...... thanx, choiboi.
