Default Problems with kill switch

I have a T1 kill switch and I've been having issues with it. I drive the car every day and at night I turn the switch off. Some mornings when I go to turn it on I still have no power to anything. Some times it works fine. I tried a new switch and new solenoid and still does the same thing. Ive rewired all the wires and still the same thing. I have a 10gauge wire ran to the ground and 1/0 from battery to the big post. the other small post is a 10gauge direct to the battery. The alternator and starter are ran direct to the battery. The other big post is 10gauge ran to the under hood fuse box. Sorry for the long post just trying to put all the information out. Thanks for any insight.

It's a really simple piece, next time it's not working put a meter on it and see if you have power and ground at the small terminals and power on one big power and not on the other. If that's the case then there's something wrong with it.

FWIW, we've discontinued that kit because of some issues with the solenoids that the manufacturer wouldn't warranty. We've updated the kit with a newer technology solid state relay. The new relay is considerably more expensive, hence the price increase of the kit.

Make sure the solenoid is mounted to the body of the car as to ground it. I was having the same issue and that cured it. It only does it when the car has not ran for a day or 2 right?

The solenoid does not need to be grounded on the body. Ideally it should be mounted on rubber dampers to isolate it from vibration.

I could get no power thru mine until i mounted the 2 tabsto the body... Works flawlessly now. Powers up everytime now even when the car sits for weeks.

I have it mounted to the body of the car. Its not sanded down to bare metal though. Yeah, if I leave it off overnight and get in it the next morning, it doesn't work. But sometimes it works fine.

I did notice your new kit Tony, but right now a little out of budget. If I put rubber behind the bolts that holds it to isolate it from vibrations, do you think that could solve it?

I have the same kit and sometimes when you flip it to the on position the car has no power, so I have to flip it off, then back on and power is restored. Kinda wierd honestly, other then that haven't had any issues. I wonder if this is whats causing my funky voltage issues I have been having. Some days voltage is 14.0-14.1 according to Hondata, other days its 13.2-13.7 at idle

Yeah, usually if I play with the switch, it will come on. sometimes it will just come on in a minute or so.

Same exact issue i was experiencing 14 one day 13 the next. I use to have to do the switch thing to "on and off, on and off" then the power would come back on. Went thru a whole track day with someone behind the car to switch it on and off after a burnout. Was very weird!!

This is the key. Vibration kills the solenoid inside.

I had mine set up that way before and it still would not work correctly.

Tony - any thoughts of putting the new kit at a discount for the people who own your cuerrnt kit that are still having problems?

I'll give a $25 discount to those who have previously purchased a kit.

Keep in mind, I don't make the solenoids, when the manufacturer wouldn't stand behind the product I stopped using them. There is very little profit in these kits so the $25 discount is as much as I can do.

But, you guys need to take some simple steps to diagnose your issue. It could be the actual switch or the solenoid, have either of you tested to see which it is?

Mine is Def the solenoid. I've changed the switch 3 times, but never the solenoid. Tap the solenoid a little and wala power.... Just happen again while i was loading the car, so the ground thing didnt work either.

Thanks for the discount ill contact you next week.

I have installed a new switch and tried a new solenoid, and rewired it with bigger gauge wire. If I don't have power in the morning I will check to see where I have power and where I have ground. Thanks for the discount. If I'm still having the same issue I'll pick up a new kit.
