Power-Weight Ratio, Is it important to Drag racing?
I was curious, and I have been doing some research, and I know that Power-Weight ratio make's a big difference in road type racing. But I was curious to know how/if it makes a difference in the Drag Racing world?
Also one more question, how do you calculate Power-Weight Ratio?

This used to be a very important number when matching up/racing various brands of pure stock cars for drag racing.

I know the lighter the car the better.... that I do know.
But I wasn't sure if anything else had to be factored in.
Earl, what would the Ideal P-W Ratio be? if there is such a thing.

maybe this will put it in a different perspective.
92 hatch, street car, 1980lbs w/o driver 12.6@107 1.8? 60'
same car, drag, slightly under 1700lbs w/o driver 12.0@109 1.6? 60'
same motor, same slicks etc.

OK...... I understand that the lighter the car the better... I UNDERSTAND that.. COMPLETELY!(not yelling)
In fact my car has been gutted for some-time now... and I droped times... so I know that.
Maybe I am not making sense or whatever...
But I thought the Power-Weight ratio had to do alot with the "balance" of the car, to which I was curious if the balance of the car made a difference...
But thank you all for your response's.

There is such a thing as having weight in the right places but more times then not no weight is better then weight in the right places.
