Personal Best Stock block N/A H2B 11.52@116 NSCRA Finals
Well its been a long year for me. This has been the second year i've been racing (only been driving stick for 4 years lol). First event of the year i ran a personal best of 11.74@115. Since then i hadnt been able to beat my time. It was just problems after problems. I was missing gears every single pass. After finally figuring out that it was not JUST my bad driving at fault, I switched out a leaky clutch master cylinder and it helped a lot. Unfortunately the tranny had taken a beating by this point and it was time to rebuild.
After looking through logs, we decided to swap my gsr gearset over to b16 gears with a 4.7 fd. Also went ahead and got an MFactory 3.07 first gear and also decided to buy the Speedfactory Shift Change Holder (probably the best drive train purchase i ever made) and 3-4 carbon synchros. Also switched over to Torco MTF
Went testing wednesday and friday leading up to the NSCRA event this past weekend. While i didnt run a best time, we got some good info and things definitely looked promising. Saturday was the first 2 qualifying runs. After sitting through a few hours of test n tune passes without running i was itching to get my first pass in. The last few times i had been to the track, my first pass had been my best so my girl would not let me run until qualifying lol. Good thing. First pass went out and ran my best 60ft, best et, and matched best mph. All the work had paid off. #1 Qualifier in the 11.50 index class
The setup is as follows:
stock jdm h22 block
stock cast h22 euro r head
skunk2 pro1 cams w/supertech vt
skunk2 intake mani
68mm tb
RMF header
custom 4"-3.5"-3" intake
E85
Made 247 whp/ 177wtq
23" MH slicks
~1950lbs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAsTesxC02M
Breakdown of the slip:
60 1.569
330 4.702
1/8th 7.330
MPH 92.56
1000 9.596
1/4 11.524
MPH 116.39
Shifting is still pretty slow. Safe to say it easily has a .4x in it and going to try for a .3x.
Few pics from the weekend:
Just want to take a moment to thank a few people that have helped me this year. First off Kenny aka Turbogixxer@ SRC Racing. You go way beyond being my tuner and friend, none of this would be possible without your help, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Kevin @ HPC, youre one of the few people i trust to work on my car and you've always came through for me. Hans, helped get me to the track when i needed it and got the pass on vid. Matt @ Speedfactory, thanks for getting me everything i needed in a hurry, you guys are the BEST! Jeff, you were the reason i ended up getting the first gear and you were right! Randy, thanks for the tips you gave me, they paid off so far! Of course TJ THE Boxman! Been a long fun year and you been a big part of getting me to where i am and i dont mean just lining me up. And lastly my wonderful girlfriend who has been there by my side through it all. Booking hotels, cooking, pictures, support and motivation, thank you!
Lookout for some header and intake manifold testing in the early part of 2011. I'm going to try and push the stock block to the edge. Hopefully one day i can have the funds to build a motor and be competitive, til then, then stock motor will hold its own!

What h2b kit are you using and also what are you revving it to? That thing is moving for a stock bottom end for sure!

Re: Personal Best Stock block N/A H2B 11.52@116 NSCRA Finals
thanks guys, appreciate all the kind words
car was on 24.5's earlier this year and it just seems to like the 23's more. mph hasnt really changed
its a QSD kit and im revving to about 8800 (i gotta dbl check)
to my knowledge, this is the record for quickest and fastest stock block H. but also have to keep in mind im lighter than most guys who have done it before me.
Jake and Randy, you guys started it all for me. My goals were to come near the times you guys ran two years ago.
Randy, those parts are definitely going to be put to good use lol

9200rpm.
Best one I found, I am sure Jaywest has more.
Big thanks to James@Neptune. Jaywest was my first Neptune customer after becoming a neptune dealer with the same motor thats in the car now.
Congrats jaywest. Thanks nora for all the cooking, that was the reason for the good times. :p

I lost my voice earlier in the week so my yell wasn't too loud when you ran the time. lol Just glad to see you and Kenny get everything figured out and run the .52. More people on limited budgets should build cars like these, you come out every event and get to enjoy the car, what more can you ask for. Once the car gets consistent .5x's it's gonna be tough to beat in the 11.50 class.

I knew stock block was capable of .50's but to think maybe .30's is just insane.
Your doors are gutted right? Oem glass?
1950 lbs with you in the car?
Love it, by the way...the short block wasn't rebuilt during downtime?
