Because the TOP DAWGS change them out basically every race for more consistency. Old slicks still work BUT brand new slicks give better 60' foot times and consistency from what I am told.

...to be the most competitive we can we change slicks out after 10-15 passes based on how well they are working/wearing -- after 4-5 passes you can see a difference in the performance of the slicks on the 60' time and how it hooks at the top end of the track and based on how they wear we change them as needed
at the most we ran a set of slicks for 2 races (6 qualifying passes and hopefully 8 elimination rounds) and then we would change them to a fresh set, but most times we ran a new set every event we entered
the slicks still work great for 90% of the applications out there but as competitive as the actual SFWD class has become it is necessary to always have a top notch setup on the car for every round
