Not sure about your area but when NDRA came to alabama the pounded the ads on radio. I heard an ad every 3 minutes seemed like and people flooded that place. There was still a line to get in a 6pm.</TD></TR></TABLE>
That could very well be...
I know out here hardly anyone knew about the event
its not just nopi but IDRC also. Im not bashing, i would love to see a great turnout

I'm not trying to be a *****, but I know when I promoted events up here, everytime I heard someone say something like you just did, I asked them what they were willing to do to help a better turnout? Be it handing outflyers at local spots, or delivering them to shops or anything that might help.

im sure if Nopi paid us to hand out flyers and we would, but at trhe end of the day we dont get paid to do there job, its not are fault turnouts are the way theyare, promotion would help them out alot!! Shoot i know in Atlanta we hear about Nopi nationals for 5 or 6 weeks on the radio!! We never hear anything about Ndra events!!

Why would we advertise in Atlanta for an NDRA event?? The closet one in the last couple of years has been like 4 hours away.
Tracy: Yes, if we do an event there it will be a full blown event.
Turbo Jesse:
When we travel to the differant markets, we have a PR firm that does our radio buys. They don't do it on just one station, but a multitude of stations from hip hop, to rock, to latino and so on. Maybe they did not hit a station that you listened to, but that does not mean that no one knew about the event like you stated.
Pack the stands after 9 events???? We have only been to Phoenix twice, and had rain and cold weather both times.

I don't think you're getting my point man. I'm not trying to tell you to treat it as a job, but if you're not going to be a part of the solution, then you're simply contributing to the problem. When people bitched at my events about turnouts, I asked for their help in promoting better. When they did help the crowd turnout was better. So maybe NOPI can help out volunteers with a reduced admission, or a free t shirt or something to get people to help out. Racers ALWAYS tell me that they don't race for the $$, but rather for doing what they do in front of the crowd. So, if that's true, then help out and get some asses in the seats man.

Clayton, we already deal with alot of volunteers and car clubs. It just seems that most (like this guy) want to bitch about how we do our jobs.
Do we go to McDonalds and show him how to make a burger?

Well we all listen to country at the shop so maybe we just didn't hear it lol
I personally think the phx event is too early but thats just my opinion. I knew alot of people that wanted to run but didn't have time to finish their cars, etc. Also if i recall we got snow the week before the event

Man, you're hitting every excuse I ever heard when I had Glenn's job. There is the whole winter to get ready and you don't have time to finish? weather is an acceptable excuse, but not enough time? I just don't get that one.

November to March is not enough time to get ready for anything.
So if it rains on Tuesday, do you get up and dress for rain on Wed., or do you check the weather before leaving the house?
Josh, yes, it is a go. It will still be Turbo Street, but it is only 4 Cylinders.

No i think your not getting it. Im not making an excuse for myself but going by what i heard from quite a few others that didn't make the event. After the phx even last year when was the next big event? be it NHRA, IDRC, BOTI, etc. What makes you think someone is gonna rush (yes i said rush, its very hard to find time to work on personal stuff) to get a car together for one event that is a far drive for most of the country just to let the car sit for another 2 months before the next event? alot of people will write that event off. You can argue all you want but it was poor planning

FYI i was out there freezing my *** off...
Im just giving you another viewpoint that others have expressed , if you can't handle it you shouldn't be doing what your doing.

Once again Spellcheck is your friend keyboard commando, or Eracer, whichever you choose to use.
Now with the names and the insults, man you are really helping your cause on here.
How do you suggest supporting the racers?? Make all of the events close to you??
Turbojesse, poor planning? NHRASC had an event Apr.1/2, that was only 2 weeks later than the Phoenix event., a week after that was an IDRC event.
Don't get me wrong Jesse, we listen to ideas and suggestions. We just have to play devils advocate on most of it.

I understand....
Like i said i was there and no problem supporting events. I was offering suggestions based on things i have heard. Personally I could care less about the weather, etc. I would be there regardless... Clayton can say im making excuses all day long but i personally know prolly 10-15 people that would have been there but the event is right in the middle of spring break, they picked going to mexico....

I would like to know how many people in this thread that bitch about NOPI actually make it to the races and race or spectate? B/c it seems like most of the people that actually race at the events are happy. I know I have a blast at all the NOPI events I go to along with all my friends. I have a ton of people that come to the NOPI events that run brackets still travel to the events.
Why Mexico?? I hear Lake Havasu is where they should go. It is not far from the track either I don't think. haha
Yea, I am there regardless too.
Back to Devils advocate.

"To Nopi its all about the bottom dollar , they dont love the sport like most of the other companies. They expect to hold one event in SE becasue the market is bad, thats BS. Theres alwasy NHRA and there alot more organized and will contiue to support the sport, not just there bank accounts"
Hey Adrian, wait til you see how NHRA is going to support the S.E. in 2007. Get ready to pull the foot from your mouth.
I wish the NDRA made the money that idiots like you thought the NDRA made. If you knew the Owner, you would know that he is not in it for the money on the NDRA.
I am still trying to figure out how we have abandoned the S.E.??? When I look at the schedule, I see 5 South East events in 2007. They are not all drag events, but we still support the S.E.
Hey, maybe you can build a $100 million dollar dragstrip in the South East and guarantee that we won't be blocked out, of forced out by the local police.
Yea, I am there regardless too.

He went 8.90 with a larger turbo and bigger tires. The rules did not allow him to run like that in Turbo Street. He can run the new Outlaw Street class with the 6/8 cyl cars in 2007 though. Should be a 8.80-9.00 class in 2007.
We will see you there Jesse. Going to try and bring the dry hot weather with us this year. haha
