Just wanted to share some testing we just did with the Meziere electric water pump kit for Hondas.

Pretty much every high hp street setup we do runs on the verge of 'too hot' if not actually running too hot. We've done lots of things to improve the situation, but short of cutting a big vent in the hood to let the heat out, we've never been in an ideal situation where we actually had control over engine temperature.

We just put that electric pump kit on a car that has been having issues and it's been a night and day difference. We went from cruising at 195-200, even with the fan coming on at 185, to cruising at the temp that we cycle the fan on and off at. Turning the fan on at 185, the engine temp goes from 185 to 183 as the fan cycles on and off and beating on it, it never went above 188.

I know this stuff has been out there for quite a long time, but i've never tested it and didn't realize how well it would work and benefit the street guys with overheating issues. We will 100% be using these on all our builds from here on out.

Hope this helps other guys with the same problems.

Also, i'd like to add, the myth about if you cycle the water through the radiator too fast that it won't work right is 100% false. More water flow = better cooling.

The one we did was with the stock hose, their kit makes it nice and easy. Mounts on the trans and you cut the stock lower hose and it hooks up to the inlet and outlet of the pump.

Or you could buy the pump for a little under $200 and mount it yourself and cut the blades off your stock water pump instead of buying the idler if you're on a budget.

could of told you it worked good, i have round robined my car 4 passes back to back with out issues. this setup works great

only issue is, make sure you mount the pump up and down, if you lay the pump on its side it will fail

i use the wp136 which is the one in the kit, i use it for the cooling system and for the intercooler, flows like a firehouse, i can drain my ic tank (5gl) very fast

this pump is awesome. Ive had it on my car for about a year now and it keeps the temps real low. Sometimes in the fall I dont even use a fan because the temps are so low.Also its great for when they try to rush you between rounds. When I get back to the pits I leave the pump on with the fan going and it gets my temp down to 120-130 in about 3-4 minutes. I love this kit

Is it just the 136 that has failed on its side? Or is this something you've read elsewhere on other pumps too?

I was told either works with the series pump I got for the cooling system. Albeit overkill lol

only the 136 will fail when mounted on its side.

I just did 1961 mimi coper has rear eng h22 & the rad is in the front it run at 230 when
ran hard so just used the meziere water pump plate and the big pump 55gpm now it runs
allmost to cold

These pumps draw like 6 amps, no need for an upgraded electrical system.

they are a no brainer & it still doesnt add up to me why not.

after all we are running water coolers, cars have front bumpers that are closed off (will not work on the street) exhaust out of the hoods. none of these are nowhere near streetable. air temp will be to hot water temps will also.
gotta let go of the STREET outlaw aspect, its "OUTLAW" street

did one on a CRX a while back. kit was super simple to install and worked real well. that particular car absolutely did not need it though lol

You know, I've been saying this for years already. I don't want to single out the NRG Tech car (the pic was just convenient for me to grab) But please tell what about this car makes anyone think its anything but a race car.

Just because the class has the word "street" in the title somewhere, doesn't mean anything when you are setting up rules for a racing class. I think the NRG Tech car is a perfect example of a car setup for this class, and I think we should all be looking at ways to make the cars more reliable instead of just a few people whining about "keeping them street".
I never, ever understood the dork rules that people insisted on keeping for these cars. These cars are a big investment for anyone that wants to build one, and we should accept anything that builds reliability into these cars. If some people can't afford to add an electric water pump to their car, then they don't have to have one. Simple. That shouldn't prevent someone else from trying to improve the reliability of their investment.
I don't understand the rear fuel tank either. That's another dork rule that makes no sense.

Here is what I used to use, but I remember paying $230 for the whole setup. That was 5 or 6 years ago though.
