looking for a race engine harness
i was looking for a race engine harness....for a civic drag car. people were saying to run a obd2 harness...but if possible....try to find a aftermarket race ready engine harness.....that's what i'm looking for. can anyone help me with this problem?
most people make them there self's there was a guy on here that was selling them i make them but just for Friends/personal use it takes a good bit of time and i really hate doing it do a search you might find him

SWEET! I need something just like that for my race car too...how much did you charge...I do have a FULL (whole car) harness from a 94 EX...That one looks like it's OBD1, was it setup to run off of a factory ECU style setup? Do you know anyone that sells harnesses like that that are alreay premade?
I have been thinking alot about making one..I have made some nice clean Vtec harnesses for swaps and a couple of other things, I guess I just get a little intimidated by it. It's alot of crap to get right. I plan on using a socketed p30 and chrome or uber to tune...anybody know what sensors you HAVE to have to run a setup like that?

the normale stuff the only thing that sucks is you have to splice every thing to make the harness long enough or do what i did on my harness is take two stock harneses run one from the ecu to the firewall one from the motor to the firewall and use a gang plug so when you have to take the motor out it makes it easy

Thanks guys! Here's what mine look like...
Andrea's... Not finished looming

Labeled sensors...

And another...

Jspin's working with an OBDII harness and OBDI pigtails to start.

K20 fun!

And I probably shouldn't post this here since it's more like an ad, but the OBDI versions will run anywhere from ~$350 to $500 for the basics.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

how much more work is needed to make that harness work in a eg with p28 and hondata...like power, grounds etc......
i thought that the connectors where the motor harness and the chassis harness connect to (under hood) in a EG serve as some kind of safety thing so that a power surge wont happen...................heard that from somewhere, dont know if its true.

Not much at all... My harnesses are pretty simple. They require a 12V+ power, ground, and 12V+ start to run a motor. In the Hondata (or NepTune, etc., etc.) it's good to turn off the ELD (won't have a CEL for that then), and that's about it.
As far as the connectors under the hood. That's not true at all. The DC/EH/EF chassis' use them because the interior-cabin harness and engine are 2 separate pieces and you obviously need to disconnect them, should you pull the motor. There's no fuses in the connectors, or anything... Look at the '96-2000 Civics, RSX, etc. -- all ONE piece harnesses from the ECU to motor.
The only thing that would relate to them are junction connectors are the engine harness. They take one powers and/or grounds and "jump" them to many other lines (ie. there's one 12V+ line in and it's run out to 4 injectors, IAC, VSS, ALT).
Here's a standard '96-98 Civic harness which I reworked for an H22. Notice it's ONE piece...

what engine mgt you plan on running ? if AEM or Hondata, then use the OBD2b Civic Si or OBD2a/b EX harness, just remove all the un-needed sensor wires.
If motec, Haltech or DFI then their respective harness.
Get the Jegs/Summit power harness and switches
thanks what I did.

CHEETAH's right for the most part, but there are a couple things that will still make for just as much work as using OBDI harnesses. First off, if you using Hondata, then you're still going to need an OBDI jumper which looks ugly on a race harness. And second, if you opt to use a OBDIIb harness, you also need an interior wiring harness from a '99-2000 Civic ('98-2001 Teg) to get the extra connector which isn't integrated into the engine harness. Not a biggie. Anyway works, but my harnesses do have more work into them than that. Lines are run diffferently than OEM harnesses which should allow for a lot cleaner, low profile look. I'm super **** about this kinda **** though!
OFF TOPIC: Can I please get the guys that just sent me their harness (for an OBDI full race build) from California to please give me a call ASAP. Lost my cell which had your number
, and you didn't supply me with any information along with the harness (ie. I don't even have a return address).
Thanks,
Adam
