you dont have to use parameters you can just run it on a toggle switch ,its funny how unfamiliar people are with the devise they use to tune there care and still keep it together all the way down the track

My car is far from done so I have no real experience with Neptune yet, or what all it can do.

I didn't realize this seems like such a dumb idea. I'm glad a few people understand.

I understand you can run a switch for it. But rather than wire that in, and have to download off the ECU, I would rather just have the computer in the car. I dont see why thats so hard for people to get.

Theres more than 1 way to skin a cat. What works for you, is different from what works for me. But both methods seem to work apparently. I dont know why people have to be so condescending. You talk down to me, and others, to make yourself feel superior, or worthy? Ok big man.

well for one its illegal to have your laptop in the car going down the track, and even if it wasnt why would you want to go threw the trouble of having it in the car, when with it on a switch you pull up hit it and go. you dont have to deal with cables, wires, batteries going dead, charger getting unplugged.you will never have those problems with the switch its simple

I didnt know it was illegal, and dont see why it would be. As long as its not "loose" I wouldnt imagine there would be any issues. Ive never had a problem at my local NHRA sanctioned track, as well as many other friends of mine.

As far as cables and wires, I charge the laptop either in the truck, or on the generator. So I dont bring my power cable, battery has great life, and the USB cable is always plugged into the ECU with or without the laptop, so that doesnt bother me one bit.

I understand the switch works for you. Maybe one day, when I put my car back together, Ill try it out and see how I like it. But my laptop has always worked great.

I had to connect to dsmlink v2 to log anything. I've had v3 for a while, but have not used it to the best of it's abilites as ohf yet. For most current standalones on the market they do have a feature with allows the ecu to log data without a laptop.
