K series dogbox
hey guys. Im not familiar with this forum so i posted this in the wrong section please let me know. I'm building a Nissan nx2000, and mazworx just released a k series tranny swap kit. So a few questions, (I got my flame suit on in case these dumb ones lol) the car is gonna be a streetcar, in the 900-1000 hp range, and I wanted to be at a decent rpm on the highway, but all the drag gearboxes I've seen that will handle that kinda power are 4 speed kits. I wanted to find a kit that had 1st through 6th gear straight cut and dog engaged. But if there's a 4 speed gearbox that has a decent rpm at 65mph on the highway I'd be cool with that. I just haven't been able to find much info on peoples personal experience with this. And using those rpm calculators definitely don't work for crap lol. And also too if there was a 6 speed kit, would it hold up as well as a 4 speed kit with the 5th gear brace? I basically need a complete noob rundown, cause I know not really much about the Honda world lol thanks guys

A straight cut 6 spd that will handle the power you want won't be reliable. Large profile teeth tend to spread the shafts, straight cut makes the problem even worse. That leads to shredding gear teeth off.
A semi-helical 6spd is streetable but none are rated for the power you are wanting to run through it and rebuilds will be frequent as you'll need to replace bearings before they wear enough to allow the shafts to spread.
Knowing your definition of street car will help.
