Default JDM FD

well i installed a JDM FD in my car in hopes of breakin the 11 second barrier. apparently the stock 4:40 was a perfect place for my setup to deliver ET and MPH. not only did i lose both ET but MPH also. kinda weird. anyways, i consistently ran 7.70s and 7.80s @88-89 MPH and after JDM FD it dropped to an average of 7.90s @84-85. i installed the FD in hopes of the bigger 23" slicks and 2L for next yrs setup. i also though that theoretically it would help my current setup but obviously it didnt. just a FYI for ppl out there.

thats basically y i posted this up. i think it was mackspeed616 that posted up he lost 2-3MPH and 2/10ths by swapping back to the USDM 4:40 from the JDM 4:78 so i was hopin for the opposite that he got. i do believe hes got a fairly heavy car and makin more HP though.

yeah hes definitly making more hp, and his car is heavier for sure. I know my car would benefit from a shorter tranny simple bc of where i make my hp, im not making **** when i shift, bc of how low it drops, maybe youre power across the rpm range is suited more to that of a longer tranny and may help instead of hurt?

I ran into a similar problem. Installed the JDM FD and a Tilton clutch setup and went to the track. 60's went from 1.9-2.0's to 2.1-2.2's-lost about 2mph and .1 to .2 in the 1/4. I thought it was just me

The 4.7 Combo will allow you to run taller slicks without loosing mph.

Your current 22x8x15 is not allowing enough traction to take advantage of the 4.7.

Step up to a 22x8x13 with the same combo or a 23x8x13 and reap the benefits.

I'm running the JDM FD...and I have some traction issues, I'm still working on getting the BFG drag radials down to a semi-slick, meanwhile my best 60's are a great 2.12-2.20. It's either a bog, or spin on the launch, I have ~24 runs in the last week, so I need to sit down and look at the various pressures and launch rpm to see if I have a discernable pattern.

8 runs on a Wednesday night race at Sears Point...lost in the finals on a double breakout by .0133 seconds.

8 runs on Saturday for the NHRA practice at Sears Point

8 runs on Sunday for the NHRA ET-2 class, lost in the finals with a .407 red light...I think it's my first red light in an elimination round out of 300+ runs. But I was plauged with red lights during the practice...need to get used to a 2-step.

we arent even goin to make it to renegade. cars running great JDM FD sucks, ET is nearly the same but MPH isnt. not goin to hit the 11s this yr so we are just goin to look forward to the next local race for the championship. 3 racers within 8pts of each other, whos goin to choke? so other than that im lookin forward to next yr.
