I've just been thinking...
I've just been thinking to myself that getting really low 60' times on street tires isn't all that great of a thing.
If you can hook up really fast, and net a 2.24 60' time on street tires, then in order to do that you're having to launch out of your powerband. So basically, you get stuck in that interminably boring period between 3-4000 rpm and VTEC, where the clock is ticking but the car isn't moving.
If you could sacrifice the 60' time a bit, and get into your powerband sooner, wouldn't that be more effective?
I've spent a lot of time working on my 60' times; got them down from 2.45s to 2.25s on average, in almost any conditions. But the times haven't been dropping as well, and I think it's for the reason above.
I'm curious to see what the experienced racers think on this. I've got no money for real tires, so I'm stuck with my Motomasters; just thinking of technique....
