so I've been posting in the other forums but we're getting no answer and I feel like this ones popular. I went to the track and went to burnout to prep and the car hopped and stopped. I went to put the car in gear and goes nowhere. If I put it in gear and let the clutch put it just sits there and when I rev it the speedometer moves. I looked at the axles and didn't see much but that was from the top of the car. I have not yet looked underneath. What can this be?

 

Axles. Jack up the car and investigate it more

You need to get under the car and investigate. It could be any number of things, and nobody on here can help you. You have the car and will have to take it apart anyway to fix whatever damage was done.

It's pretty easy to jack up the front and spin each wheel and axle by hand to figure this out. In fact this could have been done in the amount of time you spent posting this on 4 different forums.

Well I got under the car and looked. The axle have slight play nothing crazy at all. But however the p/s axle boot is all crinkled up. Don't remember if it was always like that

 

also I have a lsd and if I spin the passenger wheel the other wheel doesn't move and I hear a clanking metal like sound....

 

Probably the diff if the axle joints aren't obviously busted. Pull the axles and see.

Sounds exactly like mine did when the diff broke.

 

When the axles are out how would I tell?

 

If the car won't move due to a broken joint, then that joint would have tons of rotational play and basically spin freely.... you would know.

 

What do you mean by joint? Where the axle meets in the trans?

 

Popped axle out looked inside diff and trans everything looks solid. Can it be a clutch issue? Maybe pressure plate or something inside?

 

You probably broke all the teeth off the main shaft in the transmission. If your speedo is going up while you are just sitting there it means your diff is spinning but your gears are not. Wheel hop can cause serious damage is not time at all.

 

So basically I should pull the trans an go from there.. Should I pull the driver side axle and halfshaft first and see if the splines are good on that?

 

You have to pull those to remove the transmission anyways. Good luck. Post pics of the broken parts when you find them.

Ok so I went and removed both sides axles and inside where the axles sit looks fine. However, I remembered my launch control only activates while clutch is in and stops at 6k. When I put the clutch in my car does hold launch control it just revs out. Could I have broken something in the clutch.

 

Your launch control is probably mph based. Typically they are setup to activate under 6mph or something similar. I doubt it's your clutch because you had wheel hop then it broke. Either way you need to pull the transmission, then you can inspect the clutch too. You probably won't be able to see any problems until you split the transmission case.
