How should I launch?
I'm looking for opinions on how you guys launch your cars that have a similar setup as mine
I'm running a T04E 57 trim turbo, and my ecu is programmed with a step launcher and i'm running an Ebay XTD sprung 6 puck clutch and stock axles on 205-40-17 tires.
I'm curious on how you guys launch so maybe I could try it and get alot better time slips than what i'm getting, I launch hard and it just spins the tires, I launch easy and it bogs off the line till I hit boost again

yea that's what my tuner told me, but it idles fine for the most part, but every once in a while it'll act goofy and try to shut off all i have to do is tap the throttle and it's fine
the reason i went with these injectors is so i would never have to buy another set unless i'm going for a crap load of power, in the sense i would have to buy 1600's but that's never going to happen because i still want the car to be streetable, so i figured 1000's were plenty for whatever i may have planned for the car

Before that, you may wanna look into getting rid of the 17's and finding some 15" wheels with 205/50-15's just to swap and race with. It's gonna be very difficult to get any kinda traction outta those 17's.
Dont use your two-step limiter with street tires, feather the throttle to around 3500, and hold it there while you preload the drivetrain. When you launch dont slip the clutch, but dont DUMP it either. I get 2.0 60 ft's outta my 205/50 Yokohamas, and my setup is similar to yours, aside from the big injectors.
If you do 15's start out with 15 psi of tire pressure and make pass after pass, each time, lowering your tire pressure, and find out what works best for you.

That is good advice. Listen to it and you will do well at the track.

full tilt
J/K u can cut 2.0 60ft with 17s . i did it all day long with BFG drag radials. but use the same teqniue as decribed above it will work. everycar acts a little diff do practice & see what works best 4 u

regarding dropping the tire pressure in street tires, i was told by a guy who has drag raced for 35+ years and has built motors for numerous world champions that sometimes dropping the pressure in street tires results in LESS traction.
to a certain point yes it does. i never went bellow 20psi in my tires any lower than that te rire will start 2 site on the outer edges so your contact pach will be reduced.
remember street tires are totally diff from slicks & DR.

Thats good advice too, cuz I never tried 20+ psi, and now I think I will, it really does make much better sense.

this is all great advice, i want to purchase some 15's with some drag radials, but at the moment i'm not ready to fork out the $$$ dollars for some DR's and a set of 15's, it would be different is i only had to get one or the other
and yes i will vouch that dropping air in street tires make them loose traction, i dropped to 24 psi in my 205/40/17s after a couple passes, and my times were worse with the dropped air pressure
i normally rund between 32-36 psi in my street tires and it seem to grip more with that amount of air.
anymore advice about launching on street tires, the car is fast as hell from a rolloff on the street, many people is telling me the car should go high 12's to low 13's from the way it looks on the street

I would first just recomend getting slicks. but if you cant afford those then all i would say is load the clutch and ride it out a little more that usual at lower rpm maybe 3500 you wont bog but you wont spin. but like i said i would just throw a slick on and call it a day. but if not just load the clutch good otherwise you lose axles.
as far as times go i made 338whp on a b16 with similar turbo setup in a full interior 00 civic si and went 11.87 @119mph with 23in slicks and a 1.6 60ft. so there some ideas for you.
well i went ahead and bought some 205/50/15 (23in) BFG Drag Radials and some 15x7 wheels from Discount Tire.com, i haven't tried them yet since i haven't been to the track since last month, so hopefully they'll give me the timeslips i'm looking for.
i've been practicing launching with my 17's and i got those figured out, holding the throttle around 4500 and riding the clutch a little and it rips off the line using that combination.
however with DR's now, and plus i'm going to get retuned today on around 18psi, it's back to the drawing board again as far as launches, but i've got 2 weeks to get it down pat as my next and probably final track apperance is on September 19th
oh yea, has anyone ever had problems with axles when running the BFG dr's?
