HOW TO PROPERLY LAUNCH
Hello friends. I have a 95 Civic EX 5 speed. What is the fastest way to launch my car without burning up the clutch? Do I floor it, wait until it hits the rev limiter, then back off a little until it isn't bouncing off the rev limiter, let out the clutch relatively quickly but smoothly, and then floor it all the way? INPUT IS APPRECIATED

In all seriousness. Here's what I do. Once i get my top bulb I preload my drivetrain by holding up the ebrake and very slightly letting off the clutch till I feel the rear of the car squat. I use the preload to inch forward and get my second bulb. If the other racer hasn't gotten his second bulb I wait till he starts inching forward then get on my launch limiter. And make sure I'm preloaded. My preload is the most important part next to cutting a good light. Too much preload will burn up clutches no preload breaks my stock axles. Once we both have all our top bulbs its just a matter of dumping the clutch at a desired rpm depending on track conditions and tire quality. I do not side step the clutch or slip it at all. I very quickly remove my foot from the pedal.
This method works for me maybe it'll help you. There is a ton more going on just before I start staging like the burn out and putting the trans through all 4 useable gears before staging. (Just a ritual someone taught me).
Good luck

I use to dump the clutch till I started breaking axles. Started preloading haven had a problem since and I'm running autozone axles if that make a differance.

Silent bob is correct. Its a little hard to explain. I had to be shown how to do it. When your ready to launch you pull up the ebrake and hold in its drop/release button. Then you slightly let out on the clutch until the rear of the car squats a little. When the car squats your ready to launch at whatever desired rpm depending on track conditions and tire quality. It'll save your drive train.
