How do we level the playing grounds??
24.5" tire, no traction control /End Rules

I own a shop. Our shop's street car. To build, tune and setup properly for the last race in Texas. It took A LOT of time and money away from the shop, our families and ourselves. And in turn that time is money. So it isn't a big break. But we do it because we love it.

This is why there's index classes. Don't be so concerned about what everyone else is doing. Build a car to your available budget and as time goes on you can upgrade and possibly step up a class. It's simple...the index classes are perfect for import racers which usually either have small budgets or are just too hard headed to build a car that fits within heads up class rules. So you can build a fully chopped up crx with exhaust stacks sticking 2' out of the hood and there is a class for you to race in.
I just started building a car from scratch again and know i won't be running with the top people in TS right off the bat but im still gonna be out there doing my thing. I'll run the car where i feel it can be competitive and thanks to NSCRA and IFO there are plenty of options for me to do so here in SoFla. You can throw an ebay turbo on a beater with street tires and go win money at one of the events.
If over time there are a lot of cars running with say 62mm 24.5 setups and there can be a class created for them, then it will be done. Personally I would love to see True Street as a 62mm fwd class and SFWD as a 67/72mm 24.5 a2a class with less weight for the 67mm cars. But really, it's just not feasible right now...especially with the other cars that are competing in true street like the GTR's, Porsches etc. More and more of them seem to be coming out of the woodworks and a 62mm fwd car with a stock tranny just isn't going to get it done against them.

You guys keep over complicating the sport. You want to add rules, but the only way we get racers is to keep the rules relaxed. No one is going to build a class around YOUR car. So youre stuck with building a car around ANY class available.
"Whaaaaa! Miller stepped down to my class and is going to run 8s! Blah blah blah."
Who gives a ****? Like you thought you were gonna win anyways? LOL. Just go out and have fun. The most expensive over complicated setups arent always the fastest.
Quit acting like a couple of broads. If you want a tight race, register in the bracket class. But wait, you might actually have to learn how to cut a light and run a consistent time. And that means getting some seat time, away from crying on the keyboard of your desktop about rules.

I think we need to stop seeing threads focusing on slowing down everyone else in classes that are popular and working well as they are. Maybe more focus should be on how people can go faster and pick the right class for their budget.
Racing never has been cheap, hell modding cars in general. If people want to race in these larger event classes at these levels, its pay to play if you want to be top dog to some extent. Always has been always will be, in any form of racing. Thats not to say the guy with the most money wins cut and dry, but common sense says you have to have a budget that gets you into the ballpark (quality parts, tuning, etc) of the competition. Driving and consistancy seems to be able to bridge the gap a bit but its not going to do it alone. The alternative *GASP* is just enjoy having fun and racing, win or lose. Meanwhile work to your goal of being competitive or whatever. Otherwise step down a class or race an index class.
IMO if you keep slowing the other cars down cause someone cannot keep up, its a slippery slope. Next thing you know everyone will be on about something that makes another cars faster but they can not afford. What you end up with a boring class full of cobbled together **** banging it out.
Edit: This was all just my nobody 2 cents from an outside perspective. Just seems the idea thats been working is set basic ground rules on a class and let people race. Keep the rule changes minimal from season to season so others working up to a class can do so without overly dramatic changes that discourage them before they get a project done. Keeping in mind though the evolution of any heads up class just leads to faster cars and bigger/ better setups, not some stagnent bracket or index class where you dont have to spend money or change things from year to year.

Does everyone that makes a run down the track need to win a trophy just like little league baseball or any other little kid sport?
Life is not fair, some people are good and most people suck, it is mcalled life. Yea I suck.

Don't you guys have your own shop as well. What's the difference between tony or millers shop?

Why dont all you guys build a car to your budget get it to the track see what times you can get it to go then do whatever saftey equipment it needs for them times then pick a class to run in an alter it to fit said class..That way you get out and race and learn your set-ups.
Im going to tell you i have one of the most basic builds for T/S (b16,stock trans,t/3 frame) and i can hang in the class.I think i can maybe still find acouple more tenths this year.

This topic has been beaten to death. Power street was great but radial based tires broke way too much on budget cars and bias plys were great till they allowed the 26x10.5 tires in. Just understand that on a 62mm T3 on 235/60/15 tires cars will go low 10's on them. The class will be tighter and more for budget guys but someone will go low 10's high 9's on M&H's and BFG, MT, hoosier radials will just beat up too many drivelines.
Don't get me wrong I would run a 62mm dot or radial class with full interior cars but don't expect to be competitive, I know I wouldn't.

Finaly gonna chime in on one of these threads cause its annoying reading them.
Theres always gonna be a hand full of shops in the US that are gonna dominate a class. Thats just the way it is. Like with Outlaw...Miller, Palo, TD,...etc. Why? Cause they do R&D for companies that make parts. Like the turbos some of these guys run...their not off the shelf turbos, but yet they do conform to class rules. And only a few guys are gonna get these turbos to run. So lets say they were to ditch the Outlaw, SFWD, and TS classes and make a class limited to a 50mm turbo. You think anyone with a 50mm turbo has a chance to win...hell no. Cause a company like Precision is gonna make 3 "50mm" turbos and hand em to Miller, Palo, TD...or who ever and their gonna dominate. Welcome to the world of competition. As with any form of motorsports...who ever has the most money or most expensive parts is gonna win. Ive never been a bracket guy, or index guy...but if you feel the need to complain about not being able to keep up with the big boys...your prolly gonna fit into a bracket or index class. Were at the point in the industry where technology is gaining by leaps and bounds, in I for 1 would prefer to not see it slow down.

And for some punk Bitch to run his mouth about something he has no idea about...
I hope we never ****ing meet !!!
You can't make everyone happy.
More over, you can't HURT existing racers by changing the rules in HOPES to attract new ones.

TRUE STORY ! This guy busts his *** with a basic setup and makes it run. Others can do it too, but that would require them putting the keyboard down, taking their mothers teet out of their mouths and getting back in the garage.
A task that seems a lot harder for some to complete.
Just my thoughts for the future, I would say 72mm a2a/a2w 24.5's 13" P for present "PSFWD", and the 67/62 a2a on 24.5's 13" A for affordable "ASFWD" and a couple of Outlaw Race in each coast also some were down south for the big money pot. That there would be fair to people and at least in my opinion would help people choose were they want to race, and won't be so much drama.
look shop teams or company sponsor teams are always going to have the funds to run faster period and get better parts. You can limit it to 50mm but it doesnt matter because there will be a tony, miller, td that will build a purpose car for that class and dominate it. Look at what happened with T/S class. That was suppose to be for the beginner racers with small turbo's but look (forgot his name) ran a 9.14 i think in T/s cause he has a purpose built car for the class. Run what you can with the money you have. If your not able to run in SFWD or T/S go to index is that not why people complain so much that they could not keep up with the big boys and needed somewhere else to run so they created these index classes for those weekend racers. Damn people just race your STFU!!!!
your website doesnt show turbo size limits, so my stock sleeve 67mm integra would have to run in the "big" class? sounds like i shouldnt waste my time going to your events then after all.
why does everyone think that racing owes them something...if you are in it for the money your wasting your time. we have driven a ****ing neon 1200 god damn miles to win 50 bucks in a semi! why because we love to race.. if you cant handle it go in the kitchen and make me a ****ing sammich bitches
