How do u STOP Peel-Out???
hey, i went to the track this past weekend and ran a best time of 15.2 with my '01 prelude s, i have i/h/e... i've gotten better with my launches and don't peel out too much or wheel hop... BUT.... BUT!!! when i change from 1st-2nd gear, i get this combination of wheel hop, peel-out for about half a second, and sometimes a mini chirp from 2nd-3rd gear....
How do i stop that wheel-hop / peel-out that lasts for like half a second when i change from 1st to 2nd??? i really think that f*cks up my 1/8th time and overall time... people tell me to feather it, but racing instinct is to drop the clutch and pound the gas.... ANY TIPS?? ADVICE??? this also happens when i street race...
EDIT: i dont' think its the tires, i've got pretty decent tread left, and i have stock rims...

Get better tires like some drag radials.
to what he said. I drove my friends 91 hatchback with a b16 this weekend at the track, and with his Nitto 555R's, there wasnt much off the line and 2nd and 3rd grabbed hard. No wheel hop or loss of traction at all.

Hell with feathering. set the car up properly so you can just stay pinned all the way down the track!!!! try taller drag radials, traction bars and if you are hardcore. try drag launch springs in the rear. they are stiff as hell!!!

Do urethane motor mount inserts reduce wheel-hop or is that just a myth?
I bought some Urethan motor mount inserts. They did nothing for my wheel hop, except made the car feel like I was driving across railroad tracks. They actually made it feel more intense. I suggest looking at a possible caster adjustment, and maybe some softer springs. This will not help much, but every little bit adds up.
