Honda's and there E.T. Progress
I have been watching drag racing for a while and i can remember when 10's and 11's were fast as hell for b series Dohc. Now i think the fastest e.t. to date is somewhere around 9.50??As time goes on do you think the b series will continue to progress with technology as a direct affect of technology, horse power and r&d, or is this motor at a stand still for the T4 class?
Getting the HP is not that hard anymore these days. There's other factors that come into play such as:
1. Safety(Street cars going 8s?) Are the cars safe to go 160+mph on a stock body? OEM fuel tanks in cars going 8s/160+MPH?
2. Reliablity of other parts such as transmission, drivetrain, etc.
I know we're all for going fast and all, but I really dont agree with street cars going into the deep 9s and into the 8s. Its a cool thing to think about, but it defeats the purpose of the Street Class. These are suppose to be Street style cars with fast motors. If we want the scene to progress, we're going to have to keep the times limited to get more people into it. I know I'm going to get some slack on this, but I think its for the own good of the series and the sport.

i tottaly agree at the last moroso event on power street thier was a mr2 that are evo lost against. he had no exhaust serious weight loss & the car ran 10.1 & we heard them let off at the end of the track cause they didnt want to brake 9's.
our evo runs 11.4 & thats pushing it for a street car that u can rely on daily.
i just built my b18c & i am shooting for low 10s in power street class & thats in my 96 teg but i dont know how long a can keep it a pwr st class car. cause of the money involved i want it to be reliable at the track & street driving doesnt allow that.

that is true but hell, a few years ago people thought and were saying that a honda(street class) would never see mid 9's.Not that there are hundreds of them but it has been accomplished by a few

if thier is ever a 8 sec street car it aint no real street car. (posers). power st class has to be run on a drag dot or radial. to accomplish that it will have to be either a rear wheel drive or all wheel drive car. front wheel aint going to get the traction.
for a 8 sec car u need wight reduction inless u are driving a time-bomb. witch aslo brings up who the hell will put a time-bomb on the street.

I say screw it let the guy's go a fast as the can (but safely). Think about if you put a cap on the speed then what? When every body run's 9.5 well see who can do it without breaking or consistent?

Just my opinion. Whats better to watch, a 16 car field(9.10-10.20s) with half breaking or not getting decent runs. Or a 16 car field (9.50-10.20s) with each race being a tight race.
I chose tigher races so its anyones game.

I don't think we'll see anything faster then 9.50's in SFWD this year. Turbo Street is a different story though
. In NDRA I'm running PW/S this year and even now, I'm not very enthused on the outcomes w/ the AWD's being there.

I would love to see some street cars in the 8's. It will be tough, but the way things have been going the past few years the street class is getting faster and faster. Only time will tell.
