The Rally in the Valley!
June 1st 2007!!
http://www.SaveLACR.orgwww.Sav...R.org
Event: Save LACR Rally
Date: June 1st, 2007
Time: 6pm
Place: Los Angeles County Raceway – “Entrance on Avenue T”
Address: 6850 East Avenue T, Littlerock, CA 91543
Website: http://www.SaveLACR.org
Contact: Jeff Hillinger - Save LACR Committee (661) 944-2299
On Friday June 1st 2007 there will be a “Save LACR Rally” in front Los Angeles County Raceway; the “Save LACR Rally” is for anyone who is as passionate about the closing of another Drag Strip in L. A. County and putting “More Street Racers” (our kids) back on the streets as we are! The "Closing of Los Angeles County Raceway" will effect the community at large, but most of all our "Young Adults"!
I'm sure that like all of us you are concerned with the “Street Racing” problem that exists today in our society, this is brought home every time we pick up a newspaper or tune in to the local news, and are informed of another accident as a direct result of “Street Racing” with more loss of “Life and Property”.
LACR has been serving the communities in Los Angeles County for over 40 years; it has been a “Landmark” that has not only generated revenue for the County of Los Angeles but the Cities of Palmdale and Lancaster in particular. It's been the home to numerous associations, including the So Cal Pro Gas Assoc., So Cal Super Street Assoc., Pontiac Drag Days, SCEDA, The Buick Grand National Club, So Cal Super Comp Assoc., the West Coast Corvette Challenge, American Nostalgia Racing Assoc., Road Kings and Early Riders Car Clubs, LACR is also home to the Motion Picture Driving Clinic ( Hollywood Stunt School ) just to name a few.
LACR is host to major events through out the year including, The Antique Nationals, the World Jet Finals, The Annual Ratfink Party, and The Annual Big Rigs 4 Kids Charity Truck Drags & Show and the IDRC Finals, along with other NHRA divisional events.
Most of all it has given our “Young Adults” and “Race Fans” a “Safe” and “Legal” place to race rather than the city streets.
Due to the “Mining of Aggregate” by “Granite Construction” next door to LACR, the Drag Strip is doomed unless you help!
There needs to be at the “Vary Least a Moratorium” on the digging to allow “Local Governments” (City and County) to come up with an alternative!!
Be there Friday June 1st at 6pm and show your support, we need everyone to show up, Racers, Kids, Parents, Law Enforcement, City Officials and everyone else. There is strength in numbers so “Let's Unite” and let them know what LACR means to the community!!

This is why we need to create an awareness, for both the general public and kids that like to race their cars in the Antelope Valley. This is why we need to Save Los Angeles County Raceway or build a new facility so people can have a place to legally race their vehicles.
Win or lose; This is why we are trying to do something about it.
2 Killed in Hit-and-Run at Lancaster Street RaceDriver Followed by Witnesses
LANCASTER, May 20, 2007 (CNS) - Two young people watching a car race in Lancaster were killed Sunday when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver, and three other youths were injured, a sheriff's lieutenant said.
The accident in an industrial area near the General William J. Fox Airfield, popular among street racers, occurred about 1 a.m. at 45th Street West and Avenue G, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. David Oliva of the Lancaster Station.
The victims were watching a race when they were struck by a Chevrolet pickup, Oliva said.
The driver, a man about 40 years old, sped away and was followed by witnesses, Oliva said.
Deputies stopped the pickup driver at 90th Street West and Avenue E-8 a short time later and took him into custody, he said.
Two people, whose names were withheld, died at the scene, the lieutenant said.
One person was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills in critical condition, he said.
Two other people were taken to a hospital with lesser injuries, he said.

I like that LACR is a 1/4 mile track and i'm not sure if they just dont care right now because they are going to close but that track sucks so bad right now its not even worth it to go. can't hook up for ****! i went from 9lbs in 24.5 slicks hooking with 1.6 60' at irwindale to spinning to a 2.2 and 2.1 60' in palmdale letting off because the damn thing was spinning so much!! and thats only because i lowered the slicks down to almost damn near flat, and EVERYONE was having that problem the 3 times i've been this month, i used to like that track, shitty elevation but nice quiet place to race and at least you could hook up!! but seriously unless they start caring about prepping the track its pretty worthless to go and race there.....

spread the word. I would hate to loose LACR. A place you can go race at twice a week almost all year long. Lets rally the troops!!!
I vote to let it go. I can't remember the last time I ran there and they bothered to prep it. No prep, dust blowing off the dirtbike track nextdoor, and 5" cracks poorly filled, no thanks, I'll do my testing @ Irwindale.
You have to give credit to where its due. LACR is a hard track to prep in the first place. Even at times they do prep it, you cant control mother nature and the surroundings of LACR. THey do prep LACR, but when theres winds blowing dirt (it is Desert all around the place) no super dooper track prep is going to take away the wind.
I say to let it go also, as much as we'd like for it around, there's already major changes to the place that cannot be reversed. What we need is a new track for SoCal.

Well they have said they'll move it if they find a place to move it too, still takes MONEY.
We'll see how Banning handles the breezy conditions that often come up in San Bernardino/Riverside County.
I will not be here, out of the country, but I support the effort and will help when I get back.

i vote to save it since its by my house and its a legendary drag strip there is various places out here in the AV where it can be moved and provide better motives to race. ill be there on june 1st regardless of what you guys think more and more tracks are getting closed and i dont want to see this one go just yet.
SAVE PALMDALE!!! IT'S A CRAPY TRACK BUT IT'S STILL A TRACK! IF YOU CAN RUN GOOD TIMES THERE YOU'LL KICK BUTT ANYWHERE ELSE. AND YOU GOT TO LOVE THE 2 NIGHTS A WEEK DEAL, WED & FRIDAYS..
I just got and E-Mail from LACR.... :

the Palmdale City Council will meet at 7pm

If the City of Palmdale doesn't step in and stop the digging by Granite
Construction the mining of LACR will start again on July 30th!! If Granite
Construction is allowed to take the next 300 feet like they plan to, LACR Is
FINISHED.
If LACR closes it will put more racers back on the streets, causing more deaths
more causalities and loss of property. It will take away another Drag Strip from
the racing community that want's to have a Save and Legal place to race. It will
impact local community resources by having more Sheriffs answering calls
regarding Street Racing, when they could be handling more serious crime. Closing
LACR will impact the local economy as well, by stopping the influx of racers and
fans that stay in our Local Motels, shop at our Local Markets, eat at our Local
Restaurants and buy gas at our Local Gas Stations.
We need everyone to come to the City Council Meeting next Wednesday June 20th at
7pm and show your support for LACR.
Be there and Tell your Friends. The Media has already told us that they will be
there to cover the meeting.

I'm going to try to make it.
Even if LACR isnt the greatest track around, its still a track. Its open Wed. and Fri. almost every week.
Irwindale has a nice location, but it has it own problems.... One night a week, 1/8th mi. and every time I have gone there its over crowded. 2-3 runs in 4 hours isnt that much fun, for me atleast.

2 or 3 consistenly good runs with a track that actually hooks (irwindale) and i can see my real 60' time instead of sitting at the line and spinning the slicks to a wonderful 2.1 - 2.3 60' on slicks in palmdale. i'd rather have 2-3 good runs in irwindale than 20 shitty ones at LACR. maybe if they tear it down and rebuild it somewhere else i'd support it but i say let it die... hopefully dragcity will open sometime this century. and its funny because i NEVER see anyone when i go to palmdale (because everyone knows LACR sucks now). honestly the last time we went we ended up leaving after just 3 runs because it spun so much. 24.5 x8x13 mt. kept lowering tire pressure and launching lower but whats the point damn near flat slicks and still can't hook for **** irwindale i got 1.6 60's all day. junk track.. close it down.

consistent 1.6's at irwindale on thursday, went out the very next day to lacr on friday and could not break 2.0's. So its not the set-up. This was about a month ago, but if they are prepping the track again, i will definatley go back.

your talking to me like i dont know what i am doing, what i am saying is they were not prepping the track at all. A 13 sec rx-7 almost tagged the wall multiple times, and that car is not even putting that much power. What i am saying is, if they are prepping it again i will go back.
