Help with launching please!
Drag radials are still going to hop. I have never broken an axle on slicks, On drag radials I have broken them like toothpicks. I have used almost every tire out there. All the times Ill post were with about 550whp
MT 235/60/15 ET street radials: Decent traction but still hops some. The best radial tire I have used. Best time: 11.9@125mph missing 3rd gear
BFG 235/60/15 Drag radials: Massive wheel hop, Traction sucked, Broke axles so bad it would twist the splines in the hub so a new axle wouldnt go in. Best time: 11.9@129mph Only got one good pass and broke 3 axles that weekend.
BFG 225/50/15: Decent tire, not as much axle breakage as the bigger BFG's but still never ran really well on them. 12.0@125mph with 400whp because I was out of gear in 4th giving it anymore power.
M&H 235/60/15 DOT: Awesome traction, bias ply so no wheel hop, on the street the tire felt less stable than radials but still not bad enough to worry me. Best time 11.7@130mph
M&H 24.5x8.5x15 slicks: 1.6 60fts consistantly no wheel hop at all even on the hardest non-preload launches. The best slicks I have ever used. Best time: 11.01@132mph
MT 24.5x8x13 slicks: good traction, no wheel hop, close to M&H but I just didnt like them as much. Consistant 1.7 60ft. Best time 11.3@132mph
That is my personal experience so you might like another tire better than I did and hate the ones I liked. It all comes down to driving style and what you are comfortable with.

No I haven't tried them and probably wont now that I am going back the ITR chassis for my turbo set up. I have to run 15's again. My tuner and a few friends have run the 13" M&H and loved them. A personal favorite of a lot of local guys are the 25" M&H.

Have you tried these?:
To the OP... your times aren't bad. You and I need slicks at the track! I ran snow tires and ran a 13.6@116. 113mph trap is great for your power. That 2.3 60' is whats killing you. You'll run much faster cutting a 1.7 60'
I wish I didnt burn up my Hoosiers so fast

I wish I didnt burn up my Hoosiers so fast
Thanks I'm a noob so I had no idea if that was good or not. I could definitely tell the track was freshly prepped since I lost traction in my next 3 runs and hour later. I'll try rolling through the water box and burning out next time until I can save for slicks.
Thanks again for the awesome info. I've been thinking about all of those tires. From what ive heard I should go M&H over MT. I was thinking about the 25s too (Im at 490whp). I have a set of nice 15s so I was thinking about trying the M&H 235/60-15 next. I tried the hoosier QTP 26x9.5x15 on the street but never ran them at the track

OP, How were you launching the car? 2-step?
Ive had good luck with my 205/50/15 Neo Gens
I think another thing you need to look at is those Azenies you have SUCK for drag racing... Stiff sidewall and them being 16's with a kind of low profile tire doesnt help...

No 2-step, I was just holding it at different rpms and preloading. I forgot to lower my tire pressure also. What rpm would you recommend for launch control? Retard timing? I will definitely be getting slicks by Christmas but am going back to the track this weekend to see if I can do a little better on my azenis.
Gringo's put down some awesome street tire times, he'll have some good advice. You prob dont need a two step, I had best luck reving to 5k or a little over and fethering the throttle. Dont mess with your timing... Try a second gear burn out in the water and run the tires at 12psi or so. But the sidewall of a 16" tire sucks so don't expect a huge improvement.

2-step with street tires doesnt work so dont do it lol...
I have the best luck with my tires at 16-17psi give or take, i free revv to about 5k then start to let the clutch out till i feel the car want to move forward.. the launch is more of a smooth engagement on street tires(slip the **** out of the clutch to keep it from bogging), i give it about half throttle in 1st and try and make it NOT spin, when i shift 2nd i just let it hit limiter then 3rd dead hooks...
1) Do you know are the 235/60-15s a smaller tire than the Hoosier QTP mentioned above? Doing the math your tires should be 26.1" however I heard they are 25.4" or something.
2) I know driving habits make it hard to predict but can you comment on tread life on the street? Assuming no burnouts... Has anyone reported real life mileage?
Anyone else please feel free to comment on the life you saw on the M&H.
Thanks!
Two questions:

Wouldn't the 235/60/15's rub on a DC? I've heard that anything over a 205/50/15 will rub. Not sure how this compares to the 24.5x8.5x15 MH slick that I was planning on buying. Sorry for the noob question.
Roll the fenders, and raise it up and you should be good lol
Just make sure you raise it up and roll the fenders. Make sure you beat in that pinch weld in the fender well too. 225/50/15 fits under the car without any rubbing on stock suspension. The 235/60/15 will rub a bit at full lock on the inside of the fender well but you could use wheel spacers or a different offset wheel to make that issue go away.

ok, my fenders are already rolled and I will be putting +37 offset wheels on. Thanks for the great info! Kinda makes me wanna get some 235 DOT tires for around town instead of slicks haha.
yeah 10K miles isnt really normal, but I drove on them for 2 summers. I only used them at the track one time and I made sure I ran a higher presure in them for less resistance in turning. Make sure your alignment is right too or they will wear out faster than BFG's. I just really dont beat on the tires that much. I have had my Mickeys since May and drove a lot this summer and they are still mint
