Default harmonic balancer/dampner

At what power levels are engine harmonics and issue? when do you need a dampner?

you will always need a dampener. that is why your car came from the factory with one.

I would say it has nothing to do with power level. When it is needed is when you goto forged internals. So wheather you are a 200whp all motor car or a 600whp turbo car you would benefit from the harmonic balancer.

Im not saying its needed, but your engine will thank you for it. To me its cheap insurance and only adds to the reliability of your new bottom end.
I personally run the Fluidampr. If your looking into this particualar balancer then look into purchasing it from Arturbo....he's the man!

Usually people don't have problems w/ stock dampner's until you get into the big hp level. I think that is why you asked the question in the context of horsepower. How many street cars making 400whp are going through bearings and oil pumps cause of the stock dampner? none, really. but that doesn't mean its not a good investment to get one. A dampner is a good investment for any motor making any level of power.
