Separate the mainshaft from the counter shaft. Support the countershaft under 4th gear with arbor plates or wood. Press the shaft down or hit the top with a deadblow hammer. This is the safest for the bearings because 4th gear will push on the inner race of the cuff bearing and inner races of the shaft bearings. No stress to the outer races or ***** and cages
