Yes i Did take the nut off, no such thing as a dumb question, this is how the gearset looked when i pulled it out. IT looks nearly identical because that bearing wont come out very easily.

Ive broken the outer race and had issues before, but I dont see any tell tale issues in your pics.

Mine usually come right off.

Be nice to it, but not so nice it thinks youre trying to **** it. Be MEAN and let it KNOW you want to **** it. Works for me in situations like this.

Every time..

LOL

Take it to a shop to have pressed off? What's wrong with the tranny, that may help a little?

i always use two big flat heads, one on either side, or a couple of pry bars. you usually cant just pull it off with your hands.

wow! prybars, flatheads ect? crazy....

Take the nut off and and smack the snub of the pinion shaft down on a block of wood, sometimes comes off in one light hit, sometimes takes a few good wacks.

well it depends on if i am pulling the shaft and everything out of the case. Ive done the tapping on wood method too. But pry bars work great, it doesn't take much force.

I tap the end of the countershaft on the concrete, and it usually comes right off..

This. Although, Ive never had a cuff, so its a lot easier only holding one shaft, rather than 2.

Yeah, tap it on wood. You can also get some large thin flat tire irons used for changing motorcycle/dirt bike tires that are very thin and slide inbetween the bearings and those work well too.

seems like you've got enough input on this, but you can support it and tap on the countershaft. you don't need to press it by any means, but that would work also. just a little tap.
