Default First Track Run

Well this Friday was my first time down at the track with my car. Car and mods in sig. Overall I was relatively happy, I wanted to run 12's but couldn't pull it off. I got a total of 3 runs in this one, a 13.5 and a 13.6 all at @ 107+mph. Any tips on how to improve my time a little more?

Corey, I was compairing your slip to other Evo time slips i've found. It seems to me that possibly your gonna wanna improve everything from the 8th mile back..

Do you remember what Rpm you were shifting at ? I'd say make your next Mod a nice clutch so u can get her outta the hole alittle harder. Possibly if your money is right pickup a Excedy Dual disc or a nice ACT 2600-2900 ..

But hey, It was your first time at the track so taker easy, In time you'll get better. Heh, We wont discuss my first time at the track with my modded SRT

just remember that mitsubishi wont admit it but they have been lookin for the names of ppl that have signed the release forms at drag strips across the nation when they come in with blown diffs, trannies, motors lookin to warranty the failed parts. any event u attend voids all warranty.
to mitsubishi for ingenuity
cause they should have known a car like this would see the strip

Why don't you tell me how you were launching and I can give you some advice. If you got the launch down 12's would be no problem.

I was launching my car at about 5 grand and just slipping the clutch. When I ran the 13.1 all 4 tires were spinning. I am going to also port and polish the hell out of my turbo, o2 housing, and manifold so if I can't hit 12's this weekend when I go down to the track something is wrong with me.

What kind of times do you run with yours, and what all do you have done to it? I just ported and polished the o2 housing manifold and turbo today so my spool up time should be a lot faster and my top end should be a bit better now. So I'm hoping to get a good launch and hit mid 12's at least.

I dont think porting the 02 housing is going to make spool up "a lot faster" but it should help. I'd say with the same variables on your timeslip + better launch could get you a 12.7 with around 1.7 60ft. Try punching the throttle back and forth at the line to build a little boost, and for the launch, try to catch the RPM @ 5500 on an upswing(meaning making boost, as opposed to vacuum) riding the clutch for a half second or so(so the driveline doesnt recieve too much shock) and then give it hell.

Well the results from this weekend are in....

First run was a 13.0 @ 108 with a 1.8 60'
Second run was a 12.7 @ 111 with a 1.8 60'
Third run was a 12.4 @ 111 with a 1.7 60'

I was very happy about my times this week.

Nice job ! Have any pictures of how in depth you went on porting the manifold/turbo etc? I'd be interested in seeing it

No that is one thing that we forgot to do....take pictures. By the time we realized we had not taken any pictures I already had everything back on the car. But we opened it up a lot. The stock flow is so restrictive. If I end up having the manifold and turbo off again in the near future I will take pictures.

I used to own a 1997 Civic HX but I don't see where you are going with this.
